Chester County Board Of Education plans bonus for staff

The Chester County Board of Education met on Thursday, Feb. 25 for their February meeting.
During the meeting, the board approved to move funds already set aside for the virtual learning that were not being used as bonuses for the Chester County school staff. They were able to do so since the number of children that enrolled in virtual learning was much less than the actual number of children that were expected to do so.
Chester County School staff will receive a one-time bonus. Certified staff members will receive $850 and every non-certified or support staff role will receive $500. Of the bonuses, the state will be providing $116,500 and the district will be providing $213,000.
Though approved by the CCBOE, the decision has to be approved by the Chester County Commission during their March meeting for it to be finalized.
If the commission approves it as well, it will be direct deposited into the teachers and support staff’s accounts the Friday before spring break.
The school board also recognized the health sciences nursing program under Ginger McPherson for being one of 159 pathways in 94 high schools and 51 districts that have earned the Tennessee Pathways Certification for creating regional postsecondary opportunities.
Launched in 2019 in partnership with the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), the Tennessee Pathways Certification sets clear expectations for alignment, advisement, and partnerships that define strong education-to-career pathways. Beyond establishing standards for program quality and design, the certification elevates and celebrates innovative and exemplary pathways in the state.
The next CCBOE meeting will be held at the board office at 7 p.m. on March 18.
