The Henderson American Legion Post 157 gathered with the community to give a “Salute to Fallen Warriors” with the annual Memorial Day service held Monday, May 31.
The service included a Memorial Day tribute video, proclamations by Chester County Mayor Barry Hutcherson and City of Henderson Mayor Bobby King, remarks about the day from Henderson American Legion Post 157 Commander Chris Dunbar, Joyce Martin reading the war poem “In Flanders Fields” and each military branch’s song.
Each song was introduced by a local citizen who served in the respective branch as follows:
Landon Damesworth – Army, Stark Davis – Air Force, Steve Kitchen – Coast Guard, John Dawson – Marin Corps and Brian Hogg – Navy.
Following the service, a small wreath laying ceremony was held at the Chester County Memorial on the Chester County Courthouse lawn.
