The Eagles are still trying to find a win after losses against McNairy Central and Scotts Hill last week making them be on a seven game losing streak.
The McNairy game started off rough for the Eagles as they dug themselves in a deep whole the first half, but cut the lead that the Bobcats had to single digits before halftime.
We could have easily just laid down and quit and we were somehow down by 20 and cut it to single digits at halftime,” Howard said. “That’s a big step in the right direction.”
The Eagles however fell back behind in the second half and lost 87-68.
Though they did not win, Howard had faith in his team that the team could take the lead and pull off a win.
“There wasn’t a doubt in my mind. I trust these guys as much as I trust my family… I thought we were going to come back and win it.”
Howard said after the game that the boys just need to execute plays more.
“I’m proud of the kids’ effort. We just have to put that effort with a little more execution.”
The Scotts Hill game was intense for the players and for the fans with the crowds and cheerleaders both yelling after big plays.
At the end of the first quarter, the Eagles were down but by no means out of the game as they were only down a basket.
During the next quarter Scotts Hill started to slowly get away from Chester County on the scoreboard as they entered halftime with a buzzer beater three point shot making the score 38-30.
By the time the last quarter came along, the Eagles were down by 10 (54-44).
They kept fighting to comeback and win as the game got wild when it was 65-59 with 3:25 remaining.
Nonetheless, the Lions were able to put up an additional 10 points, keep the lead and end the game 75-62.
The team played Lexington Tuesday Dec. 14 and will play Adamsville Friday Dec. 17; both games are district games.
