The Chester County Eaglettes earned themselves another valuable district win when they defeated Scotts Hill during Homecoming.
With the win, the Eaglettes jumped ahead of Scotts Hill in the district. Before the game, the two teams were tied at 7-4.
The Eaglettes did not start off well. At a time in the first, Chester County was down 11-2 due to them having trouble making shots and blocking the Lions’ three-pointers. They were able to shorten the core difference some by the end of the first quarter though, 13-9.
The Eaglettes were just warming up though. Once the second quarter started, they came back and kept Scotts Hill from scoring and tied it at 13. Following the tie, they put three more points on the board and took the lead. The Lions did not score in the second quarter until over half of it was already over.
The first half then ended 22-16 with Eaglettes on top. The Eaglettes flew out of the hot for the second half and still kept the control. They started third by outscoring their opponent 9-0. The Lions scored some but the Eaglettes just kept control until the end. The final score was 47-31.
“I thought they played together really well,” head Coach Lee Pipkin said.
On Friday, Feb. 7, the game against Lexington was a tougher game for the Eaglettes though. The final score was 52-47.
The team had some good moments, but overall, unlike the previous game, the team lacked in teamwork Pipkin said.
