Last week started off with a good pair of wins versus Liberty for Chester County High School Basketball, but ended with losses against Crockett County. In the Eaglettes’ game against the Liberty Tech Crusaders, after the Eaglettes started to run away with a good lead at the end of the first, the Lady Crusaders attempted to get back in the fight for the lead at the start of the second with the score at Eaglettes – 17 Lady Crusaders – 12. The Eaglettes picked up their scoring momentum though. The halftime score was 35-17 and the Eaglettes just kept it up throughout the game for the victory.
The Eaglettes’ loss against Crockett County was a tough one. Player of the Week Jariyah Williamson tried to keep her team in the game up until halftime as she scored all of the Eaglettes’ 21 points of the first half compared to Crockett’s 34. In the second half, Crocket County unfortunately pulled away and defeated the Eaglettes 64-41.
When the Eagles faced off against the Crusaders last Tuesday, they had control the entire game. Earlier in the second quarter, the Eagles took a 27-15 lead over Liberty, but Liberty came back and got on the Eagles’ heels before halftime with the score at 30-23.
The Eagles kept getting their shots to increase their lead in the second half and earned themselves a “W” against Liberty, 67-50.
On Friday, when they lost to Crockett County, they were totally in the game for four quarters. Throughout the quarters, the Eagles and Cavaliers fought a competitive battle that kept them neck and neck.
This eventually led to the game going into overtime with the score tied at 53.
However, during the four minutes of overtime, the Cavaliers took complete control for the win over Chester County.
The final score was Crockett – 66, Eagles – 54.
