Riverside takes two from Chester County

The Riverside Panthers came to Eagle territory last Tuesday night and came away with two hard fought victories. Despite the loss, the Lady Eagles played their best game of the season putting 56 points on the board. They had averaged 25 points per game in their first five games of the season. They ended the night down six, losing 56-62. For the first time this season the Lady Eagles led at the end of the first quarter 17-16. Ester Osburn started off the second quarter with a three-pointer for the Eaglettes but missed shots and rebounds gave Riverside the opportunity to go ahead at the half 35-22.
The Lady Eagles scored 11 points in the third but gave up 17. Down 33-52 as the final period began, the Lady Eagles tightened up their shooting game and closed the margin to six at the final buzzer.
The leading scorer for the night was JuJu Prather with 20; Alexis Rivers, Karley Heinsohn and Kloe Taylor with seven each; Hannah Cherry, Savannah Williams and Georganna Pickens with four each; and Ester Osburn with three points. The Eagles took the floor in the finale and were able to put 57 points on the board against Riverside but could not hold them back, losing 65-57. Jayden Williams led the Eagles scoring with 22 points. He was followed by Aiden Welch with 20; Christian Halford with six; Jayce Goff with five that included a three-pointer; and Peyton Barham and Christian Swift each with two. The Eagles were also 12-18 from the charity stripe.
Eagles drop two at Madison Academic

Traveling to Madison Academic last Friday night, the Eagles and Eaglettes both took one on the chin, making for a winless week of high school basketball for Chester County.
The Lady Eagles are still searching for its first win of the season, losing 33-50 against the Lady Mustangs.
In the opening period Eaglette JuJu Prather’s shooting accounted for all four points, ending the quarter down five to Madison 4-9.
Prather, Ester Osburn, Kloe Taylor, and a three pointer by Savannah Williams in the second quarter kept Chester County in range, down 12-23 at the half.
The Lady Eagles struggled in the third with missed shots and the inability to control the ball but were able to put 11 more points on the board with scoring by Prather, Alexis Rivers and Karley Heinsohn that included a three pointer. The score was 23-36 at the end of the quarter.
Osburn and Prather each scored in the fourth. Heinsohn nailed her second three of the night, but it was not enough to overcome Madison’s lead.
Leading scorers for the Lady Eagles were Prather with 12; Heinsohn with 10; Osburn with four; Williams with three; and Rivers and Taylor each with two points.
The boys game began with Madison putting the first five points on the scoreboard. Eagles Aiden Welch, Jayden Williams and a three-pointer by Christian Halford kept the game close at the end of the first, down one point, 10-11.
The Eagles kept it close in the second period with scoring by Williams and a three pointer by Jayce Goff. The half ended with the Eagles down two, 15-17.
Madison began the third quarter with a series of three pointers, boosting their lead to 31-15. The Eagles added 10 points to their total with baskets by Welch, Williams and Halford, ending the quarter down 25-36.
Down 11 going into the final quarter the Eagles picked up 15 points on scoring by Welch and a pair of three pointers by Goff, his second of the night and another by Christian Swift. The final score was 40-61in favor of Madison Academic.
Leading scorers for the night were Welch and Halford each with 10; Williams with eight; Goff with six; and Isiah Stafford and Swift each with three.
