The Chester County High School football team played a tougher team in their scrimmage last Friday against South Gibson, but Head Coach Dewond Johnson said that it just helped prepare them for the real deal.
“I seen progress tonight. We learned to fight tonight. That’s a physical bunch and I knew they were going to be physical. In our prior scrimmages, we haven’t had someone to challenge us physically, and tonight that team came out and challenged our team physically and I felt like our guys, once we got over that shock, we started playing football.”
He continued expressing how he is excited for the season with the boys now playing competitively.
“I’m looking forward to it… We fought. That’s what we’re looking for. For you to be a competitivbe team, you have to learn to compete every play first before you start winning and that’s the progression we’re making right now.”
The final results of the scrimmage for the varsity team was South Gibson 21 and Chester Co. 7.
