The Chester County Historical Society met at the Senior Center on June 6. The speaker was Laquita Thomson who presented a PowerPoint lecture on the chance meeting of a federal doctor and a Confederate officer during 1861 and again in 1862 at the battle of Shiloh. The Confederate officer was Marshall Tate Polk from Bolivar, and the doctor was John Hill Brinton from Philadelphia. Despite their differences in war, the two were joined by honor and class.
