The Chester County Junior High Boys’ Basketball team had a great week last week as they came home with the Best of West Championship Thursday Dec. 5. On Tuesday Dec. 3, they were victorious against Hardin County 44-22 and beat Lexington 61-28 during the championship game.
“We played really well. We played defensively. We got some easy buckets,” Head Coach Bobby Helton said.
Chad Barham of CCJHS won the MVP award.
On Saturday Dec. 7 though the Eagles loss their rhythm when they played Dyersburg. They loss the game 55-40. Helton said that the team simply just did not play well.
“We came out flat. Our guards didn’t take care of the basketball and when we did turn it over we didn’t score out of it which is what we’ve been doing all year long,” Helton said.
Then on Monday Dec. 8, Chad Barham (with 14 points) and Hunter Mclemore (with 9 points) led the Eagles to another win against JCS, 42-31.
“We played really well and did a good job denying their best player the basketball.”
