The Chester County Library is accepting applications for volunteers. The main volunteer positions are adopt-a shelf, children’s area assistant, media maintenance, shelving assistant, and event assistance. The greatest need at this time is for event assistance. The Summer Reading Program is coming up and volunteers are needed to help with crowd control at events, make craft packs for events, assist children with crafts during events, and help decorate for events. For the adopt-a-shelf volunteer program, volunteers help with keeping shelves in order and tidy. This will consist of making sure books are in the correct order, turned the correct way on the shelf, and all lined up against the front of the shelves. Some days, this would also include helping with shelving. For the children’s area assistant position, volunteers are needed who will help make children’s displays, wipe down regularly used surfaces, straighten up, and pull children’s books for displays. For the media maintenance position, volunteers will ensure that DVDs are in numerical order and are straight and tidy on the shelves.
Volunteers must be ages 14 and up.
