The group’s 22 members and several guests were welcomed by FHU President David Shannon and given updates on several ongoing campus projects and expansions. Tommie Kirk, Vice President of Student Services, also addressed the group and expressed appreciation for the years of dedication to the students of Chester County.
The service project was funding the 2025 scholarship for a Chester County High School graduate. Bob Ivy blessed the meal. The pledge was led by Jo Price, and Delona Cole brought the Thought for the Day with the poem, “Be Still.”
In Lorrie Butler’s absence, President Keith Brown gave the treasurers report. Minutes of the last meeting were read by Delona Cole. Members were reminded to sign up for openings for upcoming program parts. Kay Robinson gave the eulogy for recently deceased member, Janis McCall, with Ann Lowe adding a humorous anecdote. The group welcomed Janis’s husband, Joel, and daughter, Molly, and extended heartfelt condolences.
The program consisted of a selection of seasonal music played by 4 Methodist Men. Janice Brown introduced Denny Anderson on alto sax, Keith Brown on alto sax, Clay Canada on baritone and David Kyles on baritone. They all have degrees in music with three of the four also being retired music educators with a combined 83 years of teaching experience.
