The Chester County Retired Teachers Association met at Snookum’s restaurant on June 19. The meeting was called to order by secretary Jean Smith in Martha Lewis’ absence. Mrs. Smith thanked Peoples Bank for sponsoring the meal. The Pledge to the Flag was led by Kay Ivy; the Thought for the Day was led by Delona Cole; and the prayer was led by Bob Ivy. A letter of thanks and appreciation from President Martha Lewis for prayers and cards was read.
Secretary Smith reported the Audit Committee found the books to be in order. Dr. Jane Rowlett announced this year’s scholarship recipients: Brooke Thomas and Daisy McManus
Guest speakers Dr. Duran Williams, Executive Director of TRTA, and Mike Barker, TCRS Board member, were introduced. Both gentlemen updated the group on bills and issues impacting Tennessee’s Retired Teachers.
Mike Barker then installed the new officers for 2024-26. They are President Keith Brown, Vice President Janice Brown, Secretary Delona Cole, and Treasurer Lori Butler.
June’s Service Project was monetary donations to the Imagination Library. Volunteers will be needed to man our table at the County Wide In-Service July 30.
The group enjoyed door prizes and were reminded of the September meeting Sept. 18.
