After being postponed due to rain on Dec. 3, the Henderson Christmas Parade and Chester County Christmas Tree Lighting were held on Monday, Dec. 7.
The eventful night began with a prayer by Senator Page Walley, just before the Christmas Tree Lighting. The prayer was followed by Chester County Mayor Barry Hutcherson telling about his appreciation for the community members that made the night possible. The tree lighting was wrapped up with Christmas carols, sung by Abbie Bayless and Annafaith Howell. Bayless is the 2020 Miss Greater Gibson County and earned third runner-up in the Miss Tennessee Pageant. Howell is a student at Chester County High School.
The Christmas parade had participants that entertained the crowd such as “The Grinch,” CCHS and CCJHS Marching Eagles, JCS Eagle marching Band, horses galloping down Main Street and more.
Best Performance of the evening was awarded to the CCHS Marching Eagles. The Best Overall Float went to the CCHS Student Health Council. Neil Gaugh Handyman Service won Best Civic Float with Gately Collision and CCHS Future Farmers of America earning second and third place, respectively.
