The Henderson Mayor and Board of Aldermen met in regular session on Thursday night. Five aldermen were present with Alderman Michael Phelps absent.
The first item on the agenda was to consider, on the final reading, an ordinance to rezone property from R-2 Residential to B-1 General Business located at 513 East Main Street. The proposed rezoning received a positive recommendation from the planning commission and was passed on the first reading during July’s meeting. With a roll call vote, all five aldermen in attendance voted to rezone the property. The property will be home to Fast Pace Urgent Care, which will be relocating from 715 East Main Street.
The board went on to consider a resolution authorizing an application to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Fast Track Program for site and utility improvements to a new industrial site to be utilized as an additional plant for Henderson Stamping. In part, the resolution read, “The City of Henderson wishes to make an application to make said site and utility improvements in the project total amount of $275,070, which will be a request of $247,563 (90%) from the ECD Program and up to $27,507 (10%) in funds provided by the City of Henderson.” All aldermen present voted in favor of the resolution with one alderman absent.
Lastly, the board considered approving the name for the new access road to the previously mentioned industrial site. With a voice vote, the board voted unanimously to name the access road Porter Way. Porter Way will be located off the curve of Premier Way and Industrial Drive.
The next Henderson Board of Mayor and Aldermen regular session meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Sept. 12.
