The Lady Eagles Volleyball sits at 2-1 in their district following a road win over Scotts Hill on Monday, 2-1. Over thew weekend during the Freed-Hardeman University Volleyball Tournament, the Lady Eagles made it to the silver bracket and fell to South Side. Just a few days earlier they fought against South Side at home in a tough district matchup, but ended up falling in the fifth set.
During the first set, CCHS won 25-22 ending with a kill by Jordyn Cobb.
CCHS then lost sets two and three 26-24 and 25-18. While keeping up their efforts a in set four, they tied the game after winning the set by a large margin of 25-14. South Side unfortunately got the best of them in the tiebreaker set resulting in the 15-4. “We could have laid over after they won sets two and three but we didn’t. I’m proud of them for fighting. Our goal this year is to not give up and to fight until the last point no matter if we’re getting killed or not,” Head Coach Emily Ellis said. Though the loss against the tough, competitive South Side team, the team shows potential despite being young.
Freshman varsity player, Cobb, has shown to be an impact player for the team. In their road game versus Hardin County last week, Cobb led her team to a comeback victory in the district matchup.
While down 19-7 in the fourth set and up in set scores 2-1, CCHS Volleyball was able to rally with the help of Cobb who had 14 aces and 11 kills that game. “We’re an extremely young team. We’re building, but we’ve got lots of potential and I’m very proud of them,” Ellis said.
