C4C raises support for families of veterans affected by suicide
Each day approximately 22 veterans die by suicide. Due to the nature of their deaths, the families of these service members are left to pick up the pieces without full death benefits and the support of the military community.
In West Tennessee, a brand new veteran organization has been formed to support those families left behind when a service member becomes one of the 22-a-day who take their own life. Combat For Compassion (C4C) was founded earlier this year by a group of former and active military members from West Tennessee, including leadership from Henderson, Lexington, and Union City, with the intent to “provide and connect families with resources focused on dealing with the tragic loss of a veteran as well as ‘being ever on call’ for a fellow veteran during a time of crisis.”
On July 25-26, Combat for Compassion held its first annual car wash fundraiser in Lexington, doubling its anticipated proceeds and donations by raising over $2,000 in two days. Proceeds from the event will be donated to a West Tennessee family that was recently touched by the loss of a veteran.
“The C4C team poured sweat into this inaugural event in efforts to raise resources to contribute to a local family who tragically lost their veteran father last year,” said Sparky Fields, president of Combat for Compassion.
Members of Combat for Compassion would like to thank all of those who donated money and supplies and came by for a car wash for all their support and donations to make the First Annual Benefit Fundraiser a success.
