Hello to everyone!
First things first, let us thank the Lord for allowing us to see another week. September will soon be here! I pray and hope you had a great week. As we go through this day, let us remember that today is the day that the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
Well, it is here. Labor Day weekend is this weekend. It basically marks the end of summer, so it is a holiday that is bittersweet for me; however, that just means we have fall to look forward to! Plus, the reason behind observing Labor Day is so patriotic. It honors the labor rights that Americans have worked hard to achieve. In all, that gives us every reason to celebrate! It is a time when so many of our family and friends come home to visit with their families, friends and have family reunions. It is a time to get away, take time off of work and enjoy family and friends.
Six decades ago, an estimated 250,000 people gathered at the Lincoln Memorial for the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom in the nation’s capital. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous “I have a dream” speech that day, Aug. 28, 1963. I was only nine years old, and I remember sitting around the television; it was the time when we only had three channels. Now we have hundreds of channels. Oh, how things have changed with the television, but what about the dream? Let’s keep the dream alive.
On Aug. 31, the son of Audria Dunn and Darrin Dunn will be getting married. Edward is serving in the US Air Force! Thank you for your service. His bride to be is Angel. Edward was born and raised here in Chester County and graduated from Chester County High School. To the couple, the city of Henderson would like to say congrulations, and we pray that Edward and Angel will have a blessed life together!
Do not forget about Cool Springs First Annual Community Festival and Car Show. Registration per car is only $25, and if you own a motorcycle, registration for you is only $15. There will be concessions and fun and games for the children! This great event will start at 11 a.m. Sept. 14! The location for the event is 306 Harmon Street, Henderson. TN 38340. For more information, give Mr. Brad Dancy a call at 731-803-5091. If you have not contacted Mr. Dancy, please do so.
Happy Birthday to my very own daughter-in-love, (we do not believe in daughters-in-law), Raphi Holiday on Aug. 27. Raphi is such a wonderful mother to my grandbabies and outstanding wife to Frank Jr. Also, happy birthday to a dear friend of ours Danny Thomas on Sept. 2.
The City of Henderson would like to say happy belated birthday to one of the best directors in the world! Mr. Gary Gober, the Head Start Director, celebrated his birthday on Aug. 23. We pray that the Lord will bless all of you with many birthdays to come!
I hope everyone will have a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend. Have fun, be safe and wear your mask if you need to because COVID and other illnesses are in the air!
THOUGHT FOR TODAY: In place of expectations, Jesus gives us invitations. He tells us, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). You are Going to Be Okay!
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Text or call me at 608-6132 HAVE A GREAT AND SAFE WEEK! Love you!

Labor Day is coming fast, and this is a time that we start thinking of transitioning into fall. Labor Day is to celebrate the social and economic achievements of American Workers. I hope that most workers will get this day off work. Our local governmental meetings are in need of more community support. If you care about Chester County, please pay attention to what is taking place in our county and come out and show your interest. This year will be an election year for the history books. Everyone should be mindful of what is going on in our country and care enough to help make a difference. The only way you have a say is to get out and vote in November. I challenge all of Chester County registered voters to vote. Chester County residents need to show what they stand for. I do believe that Christians should definitely speak out by standing up for their beliefs.
Montezuma sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Raven Croom on Aug. 29, Kathy Geary on Aug. 31, Erica Quarles and Teresa Crouse on Sept. 1 and Danny Thomas on Sept. 2. Montezuma sends out Happy Anniversary wishes to Marvin and Linda Jones on Sept. 3.
We appreciate all our members at the center and would love for more of our community to get involved. With more help, we could plan more events for our community. Membership renewal dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining, and they are due for this year currently. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better.
There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Enjoy what time you have with your creator, your family and friends. Please be in prayer for our local government, federal government, law enforcement, school staff, teachers and the listed individuals of Dot Smith, Mike Lott, Linda Hopper, Cindy Kilzer, Quinten Johnson, Connie Dunn, Donna Doyle, Norma Sue Kitchen, Jerry Fletcher, Janice Schultz, Bobbie Bethune, Mark Hall, Curtis Morrison, Renee Jordan, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Lee Trice, Mike Tedford, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of Tim Stratton, Bubba Bragg, Randy Kesler and other families that have recently lost loved ones.

Hello from Enville! I hope you all are having a good week. The weatherman was right; the temperatures are climbing close to 100 as the week goes on. It is still summer, and we are so dry. I hope we will get some rain soon for the crops and yards.
The Enville Volunteer Fire Department and Community Club want to thank everyone who came out to our shindig; it was a great success. Our entertainment, Lakelin Lemmings, was awesome. Everyone enjoyed her singing so much. We had several of our county elected officials with us, and we thank you all so much for your support. Everything turned out great, and again, we thank you all!
This is the last week of August, and September brings us several events – Labor Day, Grandparents Day, Patriot Day and autumn. The first is Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2. It is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late 19th century. Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States, so to all working Americans, I hope you have the day off to enjoy it with family.
Happy birthday wishes go to Joey Ashbrook on Aug. 31, Stan O’Neal and Gerald Russom on Sept. 2, and Steven Grisham and Jonathan Timmer on Sept. 4. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Our prayer list this week is for Linda and Robert Johnson, Harold and Janice Maness, Agnes and Robert Smith, Mary Lee Guyon, Tera O’Neal, Anita Needler, Mary Lou Avent, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Emily Freeman, Bonnie Johnson, Janice Massengill Strickland, James Vinson, Jimmy Robertson, Rick Ooley, Mike Pugh, Mike Frank, Glenn Butts, Jeff Finley, Mike Finley, Justin Godsey, Lee Trice, all who have lost loved ones, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country and, as always, each other.

I hope everyone has a blessed week!

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The temperature Sunday was 91 degrees, and there was a very slight, occasional breeze noted. The skies were a beautiful blue. Our sweet little birds continue to visit. James has projects going around the house. Our yard looks much better after trimming all the shrubs and discarding the debris. We saw two pretty fawns in the backyard Sunday morning. We are entering the last week in August, and it will be a HOT one. The weather forecast calls for 99 degrees on Tuesday, 101 degrees on Wednesday, and 98 degrees on Thursday. I plan on the air conditioner. There is a 42% chance of rain Aug. 30 and 31. Wear light colored clothing, drink plenty of water and take breaks. Please be sure to check on your outside pets. They can have heat strokes, too. Keep plenty of cool water and shade available.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
The sermon Sunday at Friendship Baptist was taken from Luke 5:17-23. When others complain about various things in life, some care, some run and some pray. Praying without caring is a waste of words. We should care and pray. One touch can cause a ripple effect and touch possibly a thousand lives. Adam caused a ripple effect, which caused the rest of humanity to miss heaven. Jesus Christ caused a ripple effect for us to miss hell if we choose to. We may never solve others’ problems, but we should always love them. Also noted in this sermon were Galatians 6:2, James 2:15-16 and John 7:45-46. You can view the sermon on Facebook under Friendship Baptist Church. We also would love for you to visit at any time. Sunday services are at 10:30 a.m. with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. We also have services on Wednesday and Sunday night at 6:30 p.m.
Happy birthday to Diane Jordan, 8-24; Janet Crame and Jaden Cupples, 8-27; McKinnley Tignor, 8-29; Jessica Allen and Melvin Butler, 8-30; and Doug Priddy, 8-31.
Happy Anniversary to MaryAnn and Jimmy Priddy, 8-30, and Tanya and Mark Morris, 8-27.
“Just Pray” by Diane Ranker Riesen – “When life is overwhelming/and sadness grabs your day/when all the sun’s light disappears/behind clouds dark and gray/It may seem so much easier/to let pain steal your smile/but there is something stronger/that you should do awhile/Just sit down somewhere quiet/and close your eyes to pray/Those private, sacred moments/will redirect your day/Prayer is nothing tangible/and so it often feels/that you should be more active/but, prayer is much more real/The power that is transferred/into your soul from ‘high’/will give you all the strength you need/and help you to get by/Your soul is touched by God’s own hand/He makes you very strong/Despite your doubts and worry/you’re shielded all along/Praying is a precious gift/a perfect, magic power/that calms your fears and lifts you/out of your darkest hour/God sits and waits to hear from you/He loves to share each day/Your prayers will be your comfort/and protect you on your way.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
