Hello from Deanburg! Happy December! The year is almost gone. I am always saying that the years go as fast as the months seem to when I was younger. There was a good time and dinner at Pleasant Springs for family and friends. It was good to see people I do not often see. Last Monday afternoon, several of us went to Belmont in Nashville for the Christmas concert. It was a joy to see my granddaughter Olivia on stage once again. It will be televised again. It is wonderful how they give glory to God. Remember the Deanburg Community dinner at 5 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 7. It is a potluck.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones recently, especially the Collins family in the death of Francis, who was buried on Sunday at Big Springs in Deanburg. I have known her since she was a tiny child. Happy Birthday to all who are celebrating. Call me with news at 731-988-5122. Until next time, take care!

Hello from Enville! I hope everyone is having a great week. It sure is cold. Those 20’s and teens should not be here until January or February, but Mother Nature says otherwise! I hope everyone is getting back to normal after the Thanksgiving holiday. School is back in session, folks are back to work and maybe I can tell what day it is! Pearl Harbor Day is Dec. 7. Each year on this day, Pearl Harbor survivors, veterans, and visitors from all over the world come together to honor and remember the 2,403 service members and civilians who were killed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. A further 1,178 people were injured in the attack, which permanently sank two U.S. Navy battleships, the USS Arizona and the USS Utah, and destroyed 188 aircraft (www.nps.gov). I am seeing lots of Christmas decorations. I have our decorating done in the house but not outside yet. I love all the beautiful Christmas scenes; if you drive from Enville to Milledgeville, you will see some beautiful lights on the left. A lot of work goes into putting up all these lights and decorations for us to enjoy, so get out and drive around! The Chickasaw lights will be Dec. 13, 14 and 15. We always enjoy driving through and seeing all the beautiful lights, and this year, they will have live nativity scenes. Go if you can and support the Chickasaw lighting. Happy birthday wishes go to Zachary Thomas on Dec. 9 and Kira Weatherington and Tristan Weatherington on Dec. 10. Happy anniversary to Shane and Tanya Harwell on Dec. 9. We hope you all enjoy your special day! Please pray for Harold and Janice Maness, Robert and Linda Johnson, Jeremy Crowell, Mary Lee Guyon, Mary Lou Avent, Robert Smith, Pat Cates, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Shirley Bishop, Emily Freeman, Bonnie Johnson, Janice Massengill Strickland, James Vinson, Jimmy Robertson, Jeff Finley, Rick Ooley, Mike Finley, Glenn Butts, Justin Godsey, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, county and country and, as always, each other.
To rent the community center, call Pat Cates at 688-5125 or 315-8062, or if you have news, call me at 608-3058. Have a blessed week everyone!

Hello to everyone! For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad! I am so delighted to be with you one more time. It is only by the grace of God that we are here. Well, December has made its way here. I am so glad; I just love this time of the year! To everyone reading this column, please remember you are blessed! There are so many terrible things in the world with all of the tragedies, killings, five feet of snow in New York (it is a lake-effect snowstorm) and let us not forget politics!
As we celebrate and prepare for the holidays, remember those that are less fortunate and keep them in our prayers. I pray that you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving and that everyone made it back home safely. The Christmas Parade is this Thursday, Dec. 5. I hope to see you there! The Christmas Tree Lighting Saturday, Nov. 30, on the courthouse lawn went very well, and the singing was phenomenal! This year, I did not make it; however, I have had several to come and say how much they enjoyed it and that their children loved it when the Christmas Tree lights came on! Their child/children loved taking pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus in the sleigh, the face painting and the delicious hot chocolate! To the City and County Mayor, Mr. Bell and Mr. Hutcherson, the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Henderson/Chester County, I just want to let you know how much we appreciate you and to say THANK YOU for all of your hard work you have done for the County and the City of Henderson! Our condolences go to the family of Mrs. Faye Lean Dancer Jamison of Selmer. Ms. Faye will be missed but not forgotten. To the family of Mrs. Jamison, our prayers are with you, and we love you! We have had so many of our loved ones going home to be with Lord! To the family of Mrs. Patty Dotson and Mrs. Katherine Trice, our condolences go to you. For we know our Lord and Savior is in control. We are praying for you! Just remember in the days to come that you have not been overlooked, forgotten or set aside for something more important. Every detail of your circumstance in in God’s care! Now for a little history: Do you remember from your history books what happen on Dec. 7, 1941? If not, I will remind you. Eighty-three years ago, there was an attack on Pearl Harbor! Let us not forget those who died on that day! National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, which is observed annually in the United States on Dec. 7, is to remember and honor the 2,403 victims who were killed in the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is also referred to as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day or Pearl Harbor Day. It is a tradition to fly the Flag of the United States at half-staff until sunset in honor of dead patriots. Let us not forget! As a Veteran, wife of a Veteran and Mother of a Veteran, I will never forget about my Veteran families and how much we appreciate you! Thank you for your service. If you are a Veteran or know someone that is a Veteran and would like to know more about The Community Veteran program, please call 731-608-6132 for more information.  Chester County Head Start is taking applications for the 2024-25 school year, for 3- and 4-year-old children. Mrs. Ethel Croom is at home now from the hospital. She is doing well! Keep praying for her strength! Please pray for our United States of America. Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town during this holiday season; let us try to support our own as much as we can. Remember to be safe! HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Christmas is just around the corner. There will be several community events coming up right away – Christmas parade, chorus concerts, etc. We appreciate all our members at the center and would love for more of our community to get involved. With more help, we could plan more events for our community. Membership dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining, and they are due for this current year. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better. Our local governmental meetings are in need of more community support. If you care about Chester County, please pay attention to what is taking place in our county and come out and show your interest. Everyone should be mindful of what is going on in our country and care enough to help make a difference. Montezuma sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Patience Cook on Dec. 7, Zachary Thomas on Dec. 9, Beverly Morton on Dec. 10, Tina Ross and Garrett Denbow on Dec. 11 and Gail Marsh, Randy Burkhead and Donald Smith on Dec. 12. Montezuma sends out Happy Anniversary wishes to John and Ann Moore on Dec. 9. There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Enjoy what time you have with your creator, your family and friends. Please be in prayer for the our local government, federal government, law enforcement, school staff, teachers and the listed individuals Donna Doyle, Mike Lott, Linda Hopper, Cindy Kilzer, Quinten Johnson, Jerry Fletcher, Janice Schultz, Bobbie Bethune, Mark Hall, Curtis Morrison, Renee Jordan, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Mike Tedford, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of Randy Allen Smith, Dorothy Redden, Frances Collins, Tony Farley, Bobby Gene Tacker, Mark Carr and other families that have recently lost loved ones. With new leadership taking the seat in January, we can pray that God’s hand will be in decisions made about our country going forward. Pray for a better economy for sure. Always looking for noteworthy news to share in this column. Please send to gaylescox1977@gmail.com or text me at 608-2857. As always, until next time, I am wishing a very blessed week to all you readers!

Richard and Rita Crowley enjoyed having their children and grandchildren back in Silerton for Thanksgiving. Carolyn Stack celebrated her birthday on Nov. 27. Dixie Chastain visited with her Silerton family, Mr and Mrs Ricky Wilson and siblings over the Thanksgiving holiday. Frankie and Mary Lynn Lambert stopped by to welcome Rita Harris, her son, Damian, and daughter-in-law, Hailey Lindsey, to Silerton. They purchased the house on Hwy 125 that was last owned by Charlotte Greene Holloway and husband. Rita works as a hairdresser in Henderson. Hailey works at Walgreens in South Jackson. Damian works as a brick deliverer for a contractor in Henderson. We enjoyed visiting with Rita. She related to us how delighted they were to be in such a peaceful and beautiful environment. Her favorite place is to be sitting on her front porch watching the sun go down.  Alfred and Jonna Ewing had a very busy week. Their daughter and family traveled from Toledo, Ohio, for Thanksgiving. On Saturday, they shared a Christmas meal and exchanged gifts with Amber, Rob, Ellie, Charlotte and Owen, since they will not be able to come back at Christmas. Helpful hint. A friend passed on the following information. She had read if you put bay leaves around your windows and doors you would see fewer ladybugs. Every winter, it seems the lady bugs love our house. I tried it, and I am amazed. Not many lady bugs at all. I suggest you try if you are blessed with the bugs. If you have any helpful information that others may benefit from, let us use the Silerton Community News section to share information. Marcus Fry was warned about the lady bugs here. When his house was half-way built, he was amazed to see the studs slathered with ladybugs as if they were about to pick the house up and fly away with it.
With the holiday season here, a reminder to tear down your boxes when taking them to the trash dumpster at the convenience center. Doing so will keep the container from filling up so quickly and allow all our neighbors to dispose of their trash. Thank you.
