It is so hard to believe that over half of this year has already passed. We are living at such a fast pace that it seems so hard to keep up with everything.
Our Election Commission could use some volunteers to work the next two elections for this year, which will be in August and November, and it will require some training. We are requesting anyone with interest to call the Election Commission office at 989-4039. We are just looking for ways to help with budget cuts for our county. Non-paid workers will help with this matter.
Montezuma sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Kate Murley and Dakota Capooth on July 15, Jeri Harris on July 18, Norma Morrison and Brittney Denbow on July 19 and Ann Moore on July 20.
We need more community involvement for our center and would like to invite people to join in. Renewal dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. We appreciate all our members and would like to have more events if we can get enough help to do so. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better.
There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Enjoy what time you have with your creator, your family and friends. Please pray for our local government, County Commission as they should be voting on the 2024-25 budget for the county very soon, federal government, law enforcement, school staff, teachers and the listed individuals of Cindy Kilzer, Carolyn Higgins, Quinten Johnson, Connie Dunn, Donna Doyle, Norma Sue Kitchen, Jerry Fletcher, Janice Schultz, Bobbie Bethune, Jimmy Smith, Mark Hall, Curtis Morrison, Renee Jordan, Wesley Whitman, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Lee Trice, Patricia Ledford, Mike Tedford, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Lisa Bishop, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of Steven Bryant, Rusty Haltom, Alvin Stewart, Genny Campbell Martin and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
I am always looking for noteworthy news to share in this column. Please send to gaylescox1977@gmail.com or text me at 608-2857.
As always, I am wishing a very blessed week to all you readers. Until next time!

Hello from Deanburg. I hope you had a great Fourth. We did not do a thing as usual. Getting too old, I guess!
It is so hot! I forget how hot it gets until it rolls around again. Those that work outside all day, please take all caution and stay healthy.
Pray for Woodie Deming, Kristen Jones and Joyce Murley this week. Remember to pray for our law enforcement, first responders and our nation. Remember our shut-ins, nursing home folks and the ones who have lost loved ones.
Our devotion this week: “‘So the whole community of Israel gathered at Shiloh and prepared to go to war against them. First, however, they sent a delegation led by Phinehas son of Eleazar, the priest, to talk with the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh.’ (NLT) Joshua 22:12-13
“Before going to war, it’s best to understand and clearly communicate the issue at hand. These Jewish tribes were about to go to war thinking their fellow tribes had created an altar to a false god. It turns out, they built an altar to God as a reminder of the relationship all tribes have with God. Fortunately, the tribes were able to talk everything through before going to war. Do you find yourself about to go to battle? Have you approached the situation trying to understand the actions of everyone involved?” From: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/daily-bible-devotion

First things first, thank you, Lord, for another day because this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! I hope you had a great week and a safe Fourth of July as we celebrated the 248th birthday of America.
My husband and I did not go anywhere. We just stayed at home and watched the fireworks on the television, and on July 7, we grilled out and celebrated our daughter, LaWanna’s, birthday. We had a wonderful time!
Congratulations to our Chester County Dixie Youth girls. On July 8, the team played to win a spot in the World Series. All of the girls did a wonder job, and the city of Henderson is so proud of you! Unfortunately, one of our little players had an accident. You have heard the phase, “Taking one the team?” Well, she did! We are praying that she will heal, and she will be back playing her sport very soon!
The BIG Back to School Bash will be from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Chester County Middle School. If your child needs school supplies, a backpack or school uniform for Chester County students, the place to be is Chester County Middle School. Hope to see you there.

On the prayer list this week are any families that have lost a loved one, our first responders, our service men and women, our teachers and last but not least, all of our children. Oh, yes! Let me not forget the U.S.A.! We need much prayer!
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Hello from Enville! I hope you all are having a good week! The weather is hot and dry, but I think the little rain we had last week helped somewhat. Our garden is producing a little now, but we have been watering it occasionally.
We spent the holiday week in Gatlinburg along with my sister and her granddaughter. The weather was great all week. We saw several bears. We grilled at the Chimney’s Park beside the Little Pigeon Creek, and we rode the Skylift and walked across the glass bridge. We also attended the July 4 parade, which began at midnight on July 3, and watched fireworks. We did so much and had lots of fun and lots of great food!
The Enville Baptist Church is having Victory Sunday on July 21. The Long Family will sing at 10:45 a.m., and Dr. Roc Collins will be preaching following the singing. A barbeque lunch will be served, and everyone is welcome!
The Enville Volunteer Fire Department and Community Club will have their annual Wild Goose Shindig 4-9 p.m. on Aug. 24. There will be barbeque pork, chicken, bologna, hamburgers and hotdogs, a cakewalk, silent auction and music. Please make plans to come!
Charlie Cona has opened his New York Style Pizza Restaurant in Adamsville, 114 East Main Street, for take out only for now. His mom, sisters and brother-in-law came for a visit to see his new business and enjoy some of his awesome pizza. I know he was glad to see them. Maybe they can come back soon!
Several of our Enville folks enjoyed a July 4 barbeque at the home of Mark and Anita Needler; they were celebrating a few birthdays as well. It was fun with a lot of good food and fellowship!
Happy birthday wishes go to Kaye Ritter and Brittany Finley on July 12, Charlie Cona on July 15 and Nick Weatherington on July 16. We hope you all enjoy your special day!

Have a blessed week everyone!

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The sun was shining on Sunday, and the sky was blue with white clouds. The temperature was 88 degrees and felt like 93 at 1 p.m. The next few days’ forecasts are 88-93 degrees through Friday. Tuesday is the highest chance for rain at 56%. We did have a good shower this past week and some rain overnight. The soybeans across from us look great! They are healthy and growing. I hope everyone who has crops has a good yield this year, and to the home gardeners, enjoy the fruits of your labor. Those fresh tomatoes are YUM. We also have a few cucumbers. We should have planted a few squash. Next year, if our health holds up, we may have a small garden.
Our birds and flowers are still enjoyable. Our prothonotary warbler did not stay long this year. Maybe it was too hot. If so, I understand.
Does your religion affect your way of life? This was the topic for sermon at Friendship Baptist Sunday morning (2 Kings 5). This week, I am hoping readers will read this chapter and come to your own conclusion about this question.
Friendship Baptist Church will have a Back-to-School Blessings Day from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20. Come and join us for a fun night! There will be bouncy houses, hotdogs and drinks. We will have free back-to-school supplies for children of all ages.

“Who Am I?” by Jimmy Osborne – “I am more than merely me/I’m the hearts I touch, the air I breathe/The thoughts I think, the things I see/And the footprint that I leave/You can find me in the ones I love/In the thunder rumbling high above/In a goodnight kiss, or a friendly hug/In butterflies and lightning bugs/I am more than meets the eye/From the smiles I give, to the tears I cry/Between the laughter and the sighs/I’m a compliment to a passerby/And when I’ve reached the afterlife/Somewhere down the tattered line/I ask that you remember me/As a memory inside your mind.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
