Our devotion: “Are You Listening For God’s Voice?” by Adrian Rogers, Jul 11, 2024
“PRAY OVER THIS:
“‘I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me. Riches and honor are with me, enduring riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, and my revenue than choice silver.’… (Proverbs 8:17-19)
“PONDER THIS:
“Proverbs 29:18 says, ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish’ (KJV). We need to see, no matter if God appears to us in an angel as He did to Gideon long ago or whether God speaks to us in another form. And if you wish God would speak to you as he spoke to Gideon through the angel of the Lord, remember that you have something better than Gideon ever had: You have the Word of God. You have the Holy Spirit of God living in you to guide and direct you.
“Don’t go whining and complaining about God not speaking. God wants to speak. Do you want to hear? Are you ready to listen to what God is saying? You will never have victory in your life, at home, in school, in business, in your neighborhood, in the Church, or in society until you get a vision of Almighty God. You need to see God big and strong and mighty. You need to desire His ways more than your own.
“What comes to mind when you think of God speaking?
“Are you expecting God to speak to you regularly through His Word?
“PRACTICE THIS:
“Ask a trusted fellow believer to share how he or she listens to God through His Word.”
Quote: Life doesn’t get easier or more forgiving, we get stronger and more resilient.” – www.Googlequotes.com
Do not forget Deanburg Community Center has a great place for your summer events. Call Judy Loftis to make reservations at 989-5823.
Keep smiling and be kind, forgiving and generous.

We encourage all candidates running for offices to attend and talk with the area voters.
It is definitely time for Americans to wake up and realize that VIOLENCE is not the answer to our issues. Americans should be getting on their knees more and repenting and requesting God’s help in any and all decisions that are being made in our lives. Imagine how wonderful life would be if people were more respectable toward each other and our Country. It was a difficult sight to watch over the weekend what happened in Pennsylvania to our former President. Shootings need to STOP. Killing is definitely not the answer. Innocent people are suffering. Please pray for the family of the firefighter that died in this act of violence. He definitely died a HERO.
Our Election Commission could use some volunteers to work the next two elections for this year which will be in August and November, and it will require some training. We are requesting anyone with interest to call the Election Commission office at 989-4039. We are just looking for ways to help with budget cuts for our county. Non-paid workers will help with this matter. The Chester County Commission Budget Committee met on Monday, July 8, and was able to unanimously pass the budget for the 2024-25 year. The budget for this year did require a 15-cent property tax increase, which you should see in the newspaper as well. This year is a steppingstone to work on getting our county spending back on track going forward. This is the first property tax increase of this kind in 10 years or more. Please be in prayer for our County Commission as the budget will be voted on at their next meeting.
Montezuma sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Jeri Harris on July 18, Norma Morrison and Brittney Denbow on July 19 and Ann Moore on July 20, René Webb on July 22 and Lacelynn Quarles on July 25. Montezuma sends out Happy 54th Anniversary to Jackie and Carolyn Thomas on July 24.
We need more community involvement for our center and would like to invite people to join in. Renewal dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. We appreciate all our members and would like to have more events if we can get enough help to do so. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our County and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better.
There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Enjoy what time you have with your creator, your family and friends. Please pray for our local government, County Commission as they should be voting on the 2024-25 budget for the county very soon, federal government, law enforcement, school staff, teachers and the listed individuals of Devenda Frank, Cindy Kilzer, Carolyn Higgins, Quinten Johnson, Connie Dunn, Donna Doyle, Norma Sue Kitchen, Jerry Fletcher, Janice Schultz, Bobbie Bethune, Jimmy Smith, Mark Hall, Curtis Morrison, Renee Jordan, Wesley Whitman, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Lee Trice, Patricia Ledford, Mike Tedford, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Lisa Bishop, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of Hattie Ashworth and other families that have recently lost loved ones.

As always, I am wishing a very blessed week to all you readers. Until next time!
Hello to my family and friends. It is a blessing to be with you one more day. For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! I hope you had a wonderful week. My week was a very busy week. There were two events that I had to attend. The first one was in Lucyville. I stopped by the birthday lady’s home. Everything was so beautiful; in the yard was the big HAPPY BIRTHDAY sign. As I entered, the most beautiful thing I saw was Mrs. Bertha Woody in her red and white attire. This young lady gave me a big hug, and we had a wonderful time talking about how good the Lord has been to her. We went back in yesteryears when Louise and I were growing up. She even told me something about our brothers and sisters. It was really a blessing to talk and spend time with this 95-year-old lady. She is one of the few patriots who are living in Lucyville. Her children – Brenda Prather, Louise Thomas, Melinda Benson and Tangie Thomas – did a wonderful job. I told Mrs. Woody when I am 95 years young, I hope I look as good as she does.
After I left Mrs. Woody’s celebration, I was on my way to another celebration with the family and friends of a dear friend, Mr. Harold Spain. It was a celebration of life service held on Saturday, July 13, at the Enville Community Center. There were so many people there to help celebrate the life of Harold. I talked with his daughters, Audrey and Ashley, and his son, Harold, Jr. His children did a wonderful job making sure their father had a wonderful celebration. I will miss his big smile and his presence at the Democratic Party meetings. Harold was just a good man that the community loved. He will be missed but not forgotten.
Do not forget about the BIG Back to School Bash will be from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, at Chester County Middle School. If your child needs school supplies, a backpack or school uniform for Chester County students, the place to be is Chester County Middle School. Hope to see you there.
I hope you have made your way to vote. Do not forget Chester County Early Voting is July 12 through July 27. Times are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays; 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursdays; and 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays. For early voting, you will go to the Chester County Annex at 26 Crook Avenue, Henderson, TN 38340.
On the prayer list this week is Ms. Ethel Croom. She is out of the hospital now. Pray for our children, teachers and families and the men and women that are serving our country. Please remember to pray for the former president Donald Trump for a quick recovery. Remember to tell someone you love them.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Text me at 608-6132 and leave your message. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
Hello from Enville! I hope you all are enjoying your week. It has been hot these past few days. The heat index the first part of the week was dangerously high. I hope everyone stayed safe and hydrated. They are forecasting rain by the time you read this. Maybe that will give some relief to the sweltering heat and give the gardens and crops a good soaking.
The Enville Baptist Church is having Victory Sunday on July 21. The Long Family will sing at 10:45 a.m., and Dr. Roc Collins will be preaching following the singing. A barbeque lunch will be served, and they invite everyone to come join them in worship.
Sanford Hill Baptist Church has a Mission Team in Waterbury Connecticut in partnership with a church doing Vacation Bible School and outreach to the community. Have a blessed week, everyone!
Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The sky was a blue-gray with white clouds on Sunday. The temperature was 92 degrees but felt like 103 degrees at 5:50 p.m. Nothing new around the bend. The grass was mowed again due to heat and rain. I will start physical therapy this week after my falls. I do think I am improving, and maybe God will repair me soon.
It seems our country is slipping further into darkness. It was very sad to see the attempted assassination on Donald Trump yesterday. It is devastating to have witnessed, much less being there. We should be beyond these atrocities. God protected him, and the shooter is dead. Sad for his mom and dad.
Why, when the 20-year-old was registered as a Republican, would he do what he did plus injure another and kill one more? It does not really matter to me how he was registered; hopefully, more will come to light in the days ahead. This country needs to return to God! That is the answer, but it is hard to imagine it happening. We should care about others and help them. Guns are weapons just like stones, knives, drugs and other things. They only harm when put into action by an individual. The individuals are either weak minded and can not fight off Satan, or they are just evil. Yes, I do believe there is pure evil lurking in this world. There has been since the beginning of time. We need to pray for those affected by this killer and the family of the boy that did the killing and attempted assassination. They are all at a loss. Their lives are changed forever. For what? Other than God, what is more important than life? Pray and pray some more for this country and the hearts of our countrymen. Have faith in God!
Condolences to those who have lost loved ones.
Friendship Baptist Church will have a Back to School Blessings Day from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20. Come and join us for a fun night! There will be bouncy houses, hotdogs and drinks. We will have free back to school supplies for children of all ages.
Happy birthday to Melinda Miller, 7-14; Tracy Lovell and Brandy Vires, 7-16; Jared Blankenship, 7-17; Bliss Swayne and Nancy Morris, 7-19; and Jamie Berry, 7-20.
Happy anniversary to Donna and Matt Dickey, 7-15, and Morgan and Kyle Roach, 7-20.
Please continue to remember these in prayer – Wesley Bates, Paula Berry, Marie Bishop, Judy Bray, Regina Brooks, J.T. and Jeannette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Rickey Clayton, Pat and Paul Coleman, Joie Freeman, Jennifer Gateley, Bro. Glen and Judy Harris, LaDawn Hayes, Danny Hodges, Brenda Hopper, Larry Johnson, Eva and Alvin Jones, Justin Lindsay, Doris McKinney, Martha Mainord, Brianne Locke Matheney, Deana Morris, Darryl Newsom, Jim Newsom, Julia Parchman, James Parrish, Beth Plunk, Trudy Powers, Pam Priddy, Ridge Ray, Mollie Russell, Nona Seaton, Dyke Sells, Cathy Sisson, Jacob Thomas, Kevin Thurman, Lee Trice, Tony Tucker, Cammi Walls and Mike Young. Also, pray for our military, law enforcement, our country and first responders.
“The Perfect Church” by Anonymous – “I think that I shall never see/A Church that’s all it ought to be/A Church whose members never stray/Beyond the Strait and Narrow way/A Church that has no empty pews/Whose Pastor never has the blues/A Church whose Deacons always deak/And none is proud, and all are meek/Where gossips never peddle lies/Or make complaints or criticize/Where all are always sweet and kind/And all to other’s faults are blind/Such perfect Churches there may be/But none of them are known to me/But still, we’ll work, and pray and plan/To make our own the best we can.”
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
