Hello to everyone! This is a new month, new day and new week and a new ME! Oh, how great it is to be here with you on this week because this is the day the Lord has made, and I am glad about it. Yes! I am a new person! My husband and I just got back from a wonderful vacation! For my birthday, he took me away! We went all the way to Las Vegas and California. Yes, I got some rest! I did not think about work or any other extra activities while I was celebrating my birthday because you only turn 70 once. I am going to let you know how we celebrated. We did not gamble; we give our tithes and offering for the blessing we receive from the Lord. We had all kinds of great food, we walked and we went to a show and enjoyed that. We saw some of our old military friends that we have not seen in a long time and spent time with our son Frank, his wife Raffi and my adorable grandchildren. So that is why you have not heard from me in a while, but I am back! How did you do with the time change? I am still getting used to it. I do not like when we have to “fall back” and “spring forward.” Why can’t we just leave it alone? I have some more good news about our daughter LaWanna. Before we left going to Las Vegas, the last time we were together, LaWanna went for her heart checkup. After her appointment with her heart doctor, he let us know that her heart is working normal, and all is well! To God be the Glory! She is doing excellent! Jesus, I thank YOU for healing our LaWanna! November is here, and what a great month it is. November is American Diabetes Month. November is also National Adoption Month. Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, and we will celebrate Thanksgiving Thursday Nov 28. This is time when family, friends and loved ones can come together and give thanks for each other and share a good meal.
Do not forget the Veterans Day program this coming Monday, Nov. 11 beginning at 11 a.m. on the second floor of Henderson City Hall. This is a great program; do not miss it. Hope to see you there!
The City of Henderson is so sorry to hear about Ms. Lovie Stewart. She passed away on Nov. 4. Our condolences go to the Campbell and Stewart family; we are praying for you. Ms. Lovie is gone, but she will always be remembered for the love and kindness she always showed and the beautiful voice she used for the Lord. Condolences go to the Cox family. Pastor Chester Cox passed on Nov. 3 in the Jackson General Hospital. We are praying for his wife, Ms. Brenda Robinson Cox. Pastor Cox worked for Southwest HRA Transportation for many years and was a pastor in Bolivar for many years as well. We will remember Pastor Cox for all he has done for the people everywhere. On the prayer list this week – Tapeka Wilson, Patty Thomas, Teresa Barham, Michael, Jr., Exie Smith, the Cox family and the Stewart family. Continue to pray for the United States of America! Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call or text me at 731-608-6132. HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Though I am not technically a Silertonian (I live in one of its suburbs just outside its city limits), I was kindly invited to attend the recent Alderman’s meeting this past week. The main topic of discussion was whether Silerton should pursue annexing adjoining properties in Hardeman and Chester County. After a very informative presentation and Q and A with an expert in the field, it was decided that, due to recent changes to state annexation laws that raised the bar for annexation, Silerton would not proceed with any current plans for annexation. Dates were set to get Silerton’s Christmas decorations ready. Volunteers would be appreciated the next two Saturdays. Frankie and Mary Lynn Lambert celebrated their 12th anniversary at the Paris Landing State Park Lodge in Paris. Marcus/Jamie Fry and Gail Mayfield enjoyed the Jackson Symphony this past Saturday. I must mention the wonderful acoustics at the Carl Perkins Civic Center auditorium. I have noticed this during prior visits and have read how well regarded the acoustics are. One can hear every instrument, and every seat seems to benefit.
Condolences go to Butch Ross and his family in the death of his brother, Gene Ross.
A big shout out to Ricky Wilson on installing new boards on the old school merry go round at the city park. Those happy sunshine yellow boards are a welcome sign for children to come enjoy.
There will be no Chair Yoga the week of Nov. 10-16. Chair yoga is good for maintaining one’s balance. Chair yoga helps with certain health issues such as arthritis, teaching you to exercise without putting pressure on joints. It may reduce the fear of falling by improving strength and balance.
Piney Grove Baptist Church family and friends had a very busy weekend. On Friday morning, men were busy getting a whole hog put on the grill for their annual church barbecue. Around 3 p.m., Roger King started the grill for hamburgers and hotdogs. Ladies began bringing in sides and desserts. They enjoyed a great meal. Because Oliver Young started the tradition of a whole hog barbecue in the fall, the church chose this day in honor of Oliver and his faithfulness to the tradition. Brother Howell did an excellent devotion eulogizing Oliver. Several members of his family were present for the unveiling of a sign naming the church shelter after him. A sign reading “HOME OF THE OLIVER LEE YOUNG ANNUAL WHOLE HOG BBQ” had been installed on the shelter. Following a photo shot, the fun really started. There was a costume judging contest and apple bobbing contest; women used their talent to pare an apple without breaking the peel, and there was a hog calling contest and a pumpkin carving. The children enjoyed trunk and treating. The grand finale was Bro. David taking participants on a hayride. On Saturday, they were back at the church to enjoy the barbecue lunch. On Sunday after worship service, they participated in a birthday celebration for Judy McIntryre. To close out the weekend, the church participated in an old time pastor’s pounding for Bro. David for Pastor Appreciation Month. It was indeed an event filled weekend. Pastor Charlie Crouthers at Silerton Baptist received an appreciation for Pastor Appreciation Month from a very appreciative membership.

Monday, Nov. 11, will be Veterans Day, and I hope that each of you who know Veterans will reach out to them in appreciation of the time they are giving or gave in the past to serve our country. Being from a family of Veterans gives me a great appreciation for all Veterans and their families.
We appreciate all our members at the center and would love for more of our community to get involved. With more help, we could plan more events for our community. Membership dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining, and they are due for this current year. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better. By now, we should know if our individual vote was heard or not; please continue to remember our country in your prayers. The new leadership taking the seat in January is definitely going to go down in history. Our local governmental meetings are in need of more community support. If you care about Chester County, please pay attention to what is taking place in our county and come out and show your interest. Everyone should be mindful of what is going on in our country and care enough to help make a difference. Montezuma sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Jessica Fuqua on Nov. 7, Charles Monks, Jr. on Nov. 9, Tommy Burkhead and Madeline Fontana on Nov. 10, Willie Davidson on Nov. 11, Joey Capooth, John Tidwell and Todd Brown on Nov. 13 and Dean Davis and Sue Ann Duke on Nov. 14. There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Enjoy what time you have with your creator, your family and friends. Please be in prayer for the victims and families affected by Hurricane Helene, our local and federal government, law enforcement, school staff, teachers and the listed individuals of Bill Phillips, Mike Lott, Linda Hopper, Cindy Kilzer, Quinten Johnson, Connie Dunn, Donna Doyle, Jerry Fletcher, Janice Schultz, Bobbie Bethune, Mark Hall, Curtis Morrison, Renee Jordan, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Mike Tedford, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of Lee Trice, Marie Bishop and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
I am always looking for noteworthy news to share in this column. Please send to gaylescox1977@gmail.com or text me at 608-2857. As always, until next time, I am wishing a very blessed week to all you readers!

Hello to all from this little corner of the world. Sunday was a beautiful day. It was a breezy day and warm. Our birds are beginning to return. Leaves are falling, and we saw several deer and a bobcat on the game camera. We have been blessed with visits with Laiken twice – once with Braelyn and Misti and once with Jeremy! She is so much fun and smart as can be. She is four years old now and jumps from one thing to another. Each time we are with them is a joy! I am sure most of you know this feeling.
The sick bug is traveling around. Please social distance and cover your mouth when coughing and sneezing. Wash your hands often. Enjoy every minute of life. It is a wonderful gift from God above, and we all know those who have passed on. We have no assurance of tomorrow, but God does.
By the time you receive this paper, the presidential election will be over. I hope everyone voted. I pray for our country and all that is going on, but I do know God is in control regardless. Be thankful for each and every day. Everyone is going through something. Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
Happy birthday to Charles Dyer, 11-2; Milton Tobey, 11-5; Ben Jones, 11-6; and Doug Bishop, 11-7.

“When stress tries to consume you and worry starts to overwhelm you…take a praise break. Stop for a moment and give God some praise! Praise Him for His unfailing love…Praise Him for His power at work on your behalf…Praise Him for the peace and joy that fills your mind…Praise Him for His strength that is made perfect in your weakness. Stress and worry cannot remain in a heart and mind filled with praise!” – A Seed a Day I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home.
Until next week, Happy Trails to You.

Hello from Enville! We sure are having some nice November weather. The temperatures this week have been up near 80 every day. I hope you all are enjoying your week. We are adjusting to the new time. It will take a little while to get our sleep patterns worked out soon. I do not like it getting dark so early in the evenings, but it is what it is! Maybe everyone got out and voted on Tuesday for your candidates and made your voices heard. I pray for peace however it turns out! Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11. It is a federal holiday in the United States for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces. It was first called Armistice Day, but in 1954, the name was changed to Veterans Day to honor all U.S. veterans, not just those from World War I. If you see a veteran, always thank them for their service and sacrifices for protecting us and for defending our rights. Do this every day, not just on Veterans Day!
Maggie’s Restaurant in Enville will be open and serving a Thanksgiving Dinner 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28. All dinners will need to be purchased in advance and deadline is Friday, Nov. 23. Tickets are available at Maggie’s or by calling 731-688-4343. Let them cook and clean up for your Thanksgiving meal! Happy birthday wishes go to Ann Pugh on Nov. 9. We hope you enjoy your special day!
Please pray for the families of Tera O’Neal and Lee Trice and continue prayers for Harold and Janice Maness, Robert and Linda Johnson, Mary Lee Guyon, Mary Lou Avent, Robert Smith, Pat Cates, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Shirley Bishop, Emily Freeman, Bonnie Johnson, Mildred Goodwin, Janice Massengill Strickland, James Vinson, Jimmy Robertson, Jeff Finley, Rick Ooley, Glenn Butts, Mike Finley, Justin Godsey, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country, all who have lost loved ones and, as always, each other. If you have news, call me at 608-3058, or if you want to rent the community center, call Pat Cates at 688-5125 or 315-8062.
Have a blessed day everyone!
