Hello to all from this little corner of the world. Sunday was partly cloudy, and we had a good rain a few times over the weekend. Sunday was a wonderful 74 degrees! It is not supposed to hit 90 degrees within the next 10 days, and there will be a few days in the upper 70’s. We also have some possibilities of rain again. God is good ALL the time! We are entering the month of September, and it sure gets a lot of us thinking about fall. The beautiful colors and cooler temperatures are coming, but we may still see some warmer days so do not put the summer clothes up yet. Flip flops are still okay; some wear them year round. We may have one more mowing ahead. Some are taking vacations and planning them for fall. Monday was Labor Day, and many were off work for the three-day weekend. I hope everyone had a safe, enjoyable time off. Condolences to all who have lost loved ones. Happy birthday to Grant Lovell, 9-1; Judy Harris, 9-3; Chase Priddy, 9-6; and Samantha Burton and Cora Prater, 9-7. Happy anniversary to Eva and Alvin Jones, 9-1, and Nona and Dwain Seaton, 9-2. Please continue to remember these in prayer – Wesley Bates, Paula Berry, Marie Bishop, Waylon Bishop, Judy Bray, Regina Brooks, Georgia Burkeen, J.T. and Jeannette Butler, Jackie Chambers, Rickey Clayton, Pat and Paul Coleman, Chastity and Kase Cupples, Joie Freeman, Jennifer Gateley, Carolyn Goff, Bro. “Always be sure that your faith is strong, there is no room for doubt. That you are so busy praying for yourself and others, there is no time to judge or criticize. That your past mistakes are learned lessons. To know that God’s presence is the keeper of your peace. Of that, you can be sure!” -Debbie R Lachin
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
Dove season officially opened, and I hope you hunters that enjoy the sport were able to get out and shoot some birds this past weekend. Our local governmental meetings are in need of more community support. If you care about Chester County, please pay attention to what is taking place in our county and come out and show your interest. This year will be an election year for the history books. Everyone should be mindful of what is going on in our country and care enough to help make a difference. The only way you have a say is to get out and vote in November. I challenge all of Chester County registered voters to vote. Chester County residents need to show what they stand for. I do believe that Christians should definitely speak out by standing up for their beliefs. Montezuma sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Zack Morton on Sept. 9. We appreciate all our members at the center and would love for more of our community to get involved. With more help, we could plan more events for our community. Membership dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining, and they are due for this current year. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better. There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Enjoy what time you have with your creator, your family and friends. Please be in prayer for our local government, federal government, law enforcement, school staff, teachers and the listed individuals of Dot Smith, Mike Lott, Linda Hopper, Cindy Kilzer, Quinten Johnson, Connie Dunn, Donna Doyle, Norma Sue Kitchen, Jerry Fletcher, Janice Schultz, Bobbie Bethune, Mark Hall, Curtis Morrison, Renee Jordan, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Lee Trice, Mike Tedford, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of David Glen Austin, Roger Clifford, Carolyn Escue, Ruth Ledbetter, Eddy Patterson and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
I am always looking for noteworthy news to share in this column. Please send to gaylescox1977@gmail.com or text me at 608-2857. As always, I am wishing a very blessed week to all you readers. Until next time!
Hello from Enville! Some folks got some rain last week, but Enville only got a few sprinkles; hopefully, we will get rain before long. I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. We spent the weekend at our camper at the river. We had a family cookout on Sunday, and the guys grilled hamburgers, hotdogs and smoked sausage. Danny smoked a boston butt, and us ladies fixed all the trimmings. It was all so delicious! The youngins played corn hole, and the babies swam in their little pool. It was a fun time! I hope you all made some friends and family memories as well. Sunday, Sept. 8, is Grandparents Day. It is a secular holiday celebrated in various countries; it is celebrated to show the bond between grandparents and grandchildren. The day’s purpose is to honor grandparents and to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children’s children. If you have grandparents, I hope you visit them or give them a call. Patriot Day is on Wednesday, Sept. 11. It is a day to remember the people killed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. Patriot Day is not a federal holiday, and schools and businesses do not close. Some people and organizations may take some time out to hold prayers for victims of the attacks. On Dec. 18, 2001, Sept. 11 was designated as Patriot Day by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress. The resolution called for the president of the United States to issue a yearly proclamation requesting that all U.S. flags be flown at half-staff (https://www.britannica.com). Happy birthday wishes go to Mason Weeks on Sept. 7 and Jasper Weeks and Sammy Jo Dixie Ivy on Sept. 10. Happy anniversary to Jerry and Nancy Freeman on Sept. 8. We hope you all enjoy your special day! Prayer requests this week are for Linda and Robert Johnson, Agnes and Robert Smith, Mary Lee Guyon, Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Emily Freeman, Anita Needler, Mary Lou Avent, Ann Pugh, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Kaye Killingsworth, Bonnie Johnson, Janice Massengill Strickland, James Vinson, Jimmy Robertson, Jeff Finley, Rick Ooley, Mike Pugh, Mike Frank, Glenn Butts, Justin Godsey, Mike Finley, Lee Trice, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country, all who have lost loved ones and, as always, each other. If you have news, call me at 608-3058, or if you want to rent the community center, call Pat Cates at 688-5125 or 315-8062. I hope you all have a blessed week!
Enville hosts Wild goose Shindig
The city of Enville hosted their annual Wildgoose Shindig at the Enville Community Center Saturday afternoon, Aug. 24. Barbecue and trimmings, chicken, bologna, hamburgers and hotdogs were served. There were fun activities for everyone to participate in, including a cakewalk (where donations were welcome), a silent auction and a 50/50 drawing. Lakelin Lemmings provided entertainment for the event.
