Hello to all from this little corner of the world. The temperature at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday was 75 degrees. It was a beautiful day with sunny skies and an occasional breeze noted. Our birds are happy, and so are we. We are having humming birds and our yellow finches have returned along with our eastern bluebirds. The daytime highs are predicted to be in the 60s and 70s in the week ahead. There were storms Sunday night.
We had two great nights presenting our musical for Easter, “Man of Sorrows,” at Friendship Baptist Church. Thanks to everyone who came to see the portrayal of Jesus’ last days on earth. I pray you were very pleased and impressed by the Holy Spirit during our attempt in worshiping and praising our Risen Savior.
I think everyone heard about/saw the eclipse Monday. People were traveling and booking places to stay just to see this. I understand, but I would not personally do it. We have had instructions for some time on how to observe this phenomenon to avoid eye injuries, traffic problems and camera issues. I hope everyone enjoyed it and stayed safe. It is not supposed to happen for another 20 years, and I may not be here. With all the stirrings about this, I do wonder how many would go to these extremes if Jesus was returning tomorrow. Just a thought running through my mind.
Condolences to all who have lost loved ones.
Happy birthday to Kacey Pratt, 4-10, and John Thomas Wells, 4-12.
Happy belated anniversary to Hope and Hunter Butler, 4-5.

“BLOOMS” – “What joyous sight to look outside and see the blooming flowers/the beauty fills my heart with peace and I could watch for hours/Each tiny bloom is reaching out and starting strong to grow/no one on earth can recreate…for only God to know/God’s power shines in every bloom; and all His love is seen/the stunning hues of petals and each perfect sight of green/And as they stretch up from the ground-they reach up to the sky/their fragrance permeates the air; and I begin to cry/How awesome is our mighty God…that He would take the time/to give us all this beauty…these gifts are yours and mine/Each moment that I walk amongst these miracles – I see/that God is living in each flower; His boundless gifts are free/Today I’ll take a walk outside-and see the flowers up close/I couldn’t pick a favorite…I love them ALL the most/Take the time to study every bloom that comes to sight/and use each sign of beauty…to witness God’s great ‘might.’” – Diane Ranker Riesen
The above poem was written by my Facebook friend Diane Ranker Riesen. She became sick and has since passed. She was a dear person. She had lost a child also. Her desire was to write and use her talent to help others and showcase her love for God and others. She is greatly missed.
I pray you all have a wonderful week and may it be filled with love, joy, peace and blessings. Remember: if you have news, please email me at mimmiepots@gmail.com. I would truly appreciate any news. People from here and those who have moved from our area but still want to keep in touch through the newspaper are hungry for news from home. Until next week, Happy Trails to You.
Hello from Enville! I hope you all are having a good week. The weather is pretty nice once we got over the dogwood winter cold spell. This week is going to be a wet one, but better days are coming. The weekend will be awesome, and I am ready! On Monday, Danny and I watched the eclipse from our backyard with our glasses, of course. It was pretty cool to see that happening. I hope a lot of folks got to watch it also.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 11. Our Enville Fire Department will have their annual barbecue. This is the day before Mother’s Day. You can treat mom on her special day, so she can enjoy herself with her family and not be in the kitchen all day. There will be more information to come!
We sure did enjoy Annie Massengill’s visitor, Geraldene, from Pennsylvania. Actually, she is a cousin of Annie, Harold and myself. We always love having her here and miss her when she leaves; hopefully, she can come again soon!
Maggie’s Restaurant got an awesome review from ItsJawz Food Reviews. With a few recommendations, they stumbled across this restaurant in Enville and said he had no idea it would be one of the best breakfasts he’d ever had, but it was indeed!
Happy birthday wishes go to Richard Maness on April 15, Melissa Maness, Marilyn Mooney and our son-in-law, Kelley Collins on April 16. We hope you all enjoy your special day!
Please pray for the family of McNeva Hill and continue prayers for Lisa Bishop, Robert Linda Johnson, Tera O’Neal, Harold and Janice Maness, Mary Lee Guyon, Agnes and Robert Smith, Anita Needler, Mary Lou Avent, Shirley Hampton, Della Mixon, Emily Freeman, Ashley Pugh, Ann Pugh, Kaye Killingsworth, Tim and Tabitha Hampton, Mike Frank, Mike Pugh, James Vinson, Jimmy Robertson, Rick Ooley, Doyle Bishop, Jeff Finley, Mike Finley, Justin Godsey, Lee Trice, Clint Murley, those who have lost loved ones, our firefighters, first responders, law enforcement, healthcare workers, military, schools and school board, our county and country and, as always, each other.
If you want to rent the community center, call Pat Cates at 731-688-5125 or 731-315-8062. The rent is $100 per use/day. If you have news to share or someone to add to the prayer list, call me 608-3058.
If any of you do not have a church home, the Enville Methodist Church, Baptist Church and Church of Christ would love to have you join them.
Have a blessed week everyone!
There is a definite change in the seasons. Just get outside and look around at the magnificence of God’s wonderful creations. We have color back, grass growing and isn’t it always amazing to see the Dogwood trees bloom just in time for Easter? I feel that tree just gives us the reminder we need of the blood he shed on the cross for us.
Montezuma sends out Happy Birthday wishes to Candy Beshires on April 11, April Beshires on April 12, Anthony Bolton on April 14 and Debbie Naylor on April 17.
We need more community involvement for our center and would like to invite people to join in. Annual renewal dues are $25 after your first initial year of joining. Membership dues need to be paid now to be considered an active member. We also take donations. Payments can be mailed to Edith Sills at 4475 Sunshine Rd, Henderson, TN 38340. We appreciate all our members and would like to have more events if we can get enough help to do so. Call Ann Moore at 608-2033 or myself if you have any new ideas for the center or wish to get involved. People who want to rent the community center should contact Betty Cooper at 879-9078 for booking. We ask those renting our facility to please follow our rules and show respect for the building. We try to keep it in the best order possible, and it takes everyone cooperating to make that happen. If you care about this community, please get involved in what is taking place to continue to grow our county and make it a better place to live and raise a family. Get to know what is changing in our local government, schools, churches and communities through the news, friends, your church, teachers, etc., and if it matters to you, there are ways to help make things better.
There is much spiritual warfare with society accepting things that go against who God is and what HIS laws are that we are to follow. Every day of life has its challenges, but if we look to God for the right path, it can be a good one. Please pray for our local government and federal government, law enforcement, school staff, teachers and the listed individuals of Jerry Fletcher, Janice Schultz, Bobbie Bethune, Jimmy Smith, Mark Hall, Curtis Morrison, Donna Doyle, Renee Jordan, Wesley Whitman, Ruby Hannah, Donnie Brooks, Linda Plunk, Lee Trice, Patricia Ledford, Mike Tedford, Clint Murley, Sherry Fletcher, Chuck Beacham, Sandra Lott, Faye Crouse, Janice Morris, Lisa Bishop, Jeanette Walker, Paul Schilling, Nancy Crouse and others that are sick or healing. We especially want to remember the families of Geraldine Williams, Van Dyer, Ossie Mae Beshires, Marvin Sykes and other families that have recently lost loved ones.
I am always looking for noteworthy news to share in this column. Please send to gaylescox1977@gmail.com or text me at 608-2857.
As always, I am wishing a very blessed week to all you readers. Until next time!
Greetings from Deanburg! Another week has gone by. Time is certainly flying by, especially for us old folks.
Continue to pray for Woodie Deming, Kristen Jones and Joyce Stewart. I know they really appreciate it. I am having a tough time right now so would appreciate some prayers. Remember our law enforcement, first responders, and our nation! Please pray for people who have lost loved ones.
I have a correction. I added an anniversary a couple of weeks ago for Jimmy and Debbie Grantham and it was their birthdays. I just did not look close enough to my list.
This week, we have Braden Busby on April 10 and my sweet grandson Mitch Henson on April 11. Enjoy your special day boys!
Quote: “Learn as if you will live forever, live like you will die tomorrow.” — www.prevention.com
Our devotion:
“God proved his goodness through his Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible says, ‘For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Anyone who believes in him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God’ (John 3:16–18 CSB).
“Are you ready to trust God to fulfill his promise of eternal life? If so, start by praying this simple prayer: ‘Dear God, I believe Jesus Christ is your Son. I confess I have sinned, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died to take away my sins and that you raised him to life. I want to trust Jesus as my Savior and follow him as Lord from this day forward. Guide my life and help me to do your will. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.’ If you prayed this prayer and believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord and you want to do his will, and you aren’t already in a church find a church that teaches God’s word and be baptized.”
I hope everyone has a great week. God bless each of you.

Hello to all my family and friends who are reading this paper. It is always a blessing to be part of your life. Why? Because this is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it! I hope and pray you had a great week. For me and my household, we did. Can you believe it? We serve a MIGHTY GOD! I saw the Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024! It was amazing!
The month of April is almost halfway gone? Where did the time go? As Bishop T. J. Jakes would say, “Get Ready, Get Ready!” Monday, April 15 is the big day for taxes; it will be a sad day for so many, especially for those who will have to give IRS more of their money! But look on the bright side, the Lord has blessed you to have the funds to give, and if you do not, the Lord will make a way. To everyone that received the BIG checks from the IRS, please use it wisely and do not forget to put some back for a rainy day.
Have you ever asked the question – what is so special or unique about our community? Let me just share a few things with you. It is unique because it is the home to so many unique people like you! I am constantly meeting people who are so nice, and I have met some that are not so nice. You know what I do? Pray for them and put them in the Lord’s hands and keep it moving!
This week, I do not have much to write about. I want to let you know I love you and you are amazing because you are here for such a time as this, for such a place as right where you are and you are making a difference. My grandmother always told me to “Keep the faith and hold on to the Lord’s hands!”
The city would like to say Happy Birthday to Dimitric Carter Brown, 4/26, and Amy Alvis, 4/28. We pray the Lord will bless you with many more.
On the prayer list this week are our loved ones that are in the hospitals, for the ones that are sick in their homes, for our children, teachers and families, for the men and women that are serving our country and for the incarcerated.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements, and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. You can text me at 608-6132.
HAVE BLESSED WEEK! LOVE YOU!
