Local law enforcement officers raised $2,408 waiting tables at The Honky Tonk Hollar November 19, in Bethel Springs. The Tuesday evening fundraiser pitted the Chester County Sheriff’s Office and Henderson Police Department against each other in a battle to earn the most tips for the Top Cop Trophy and to bring home the most cash for their upcoming Christmas event. The annual “Shop with a Cop” provides Christmas to local children who need a bit of extra cheer. The Chester County Sheriff’s Office earned the most tips for the evening and were awarded the coveted Top Cop Trophy. While Sheriff Mark Griffin expressed gratitude at edging out over the HPD, the most important point to note, he said, is that all of the money went to the same place. “I’m really happy that the community turned out that night and supported us the way that they did,” Sheriff Griffin said. “It was a great fundraiser, I was pleased with the turnout.” The HPD has been hosting Shop with a Cop for seven years, according to Chief of Police Gary A. Davidson, the CCSO partnering alongside. “I cannot even start to express my gratitude to the owners of the Hollar, and to those who came out to support this event,” said Chief Davidson. “No one wants to see a child go without Christmas.
