Danny William Capps, 74, of Pinson passed away Nov. 8, 2023, in St. Clair, Mo.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Thomas Leach officiating. Burial followed at Palestine Cemetery.
The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday service time at Crook Avenue.
He was born in Chester County, Nov. 6, 1949, the son of the late Vernon William and Margaret Lenora Rowland Capps. He grew up in Pinson and was a 1967 graduate of Southside High School in Jackson.
He was a member of FFA while in high school and enjoyed raising and trading animals his whole life. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He joined the TN Army National Guard in 1969 and retired in 2009 as Staff Sergeant. He worked for ITT Grinnell for many years and then Anvil International from where he retired. He then worked for Tennessee State Parks for about ten years, retiring again in 2021. He was a member of the Pinson Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Allison (Josh) Sohn of St. Clair, Mo., and Sara Capps of Henderson; two stepdaughters, Stacy Ivy of Henderson and Kathy Haynie of Toone; three grandchildren, Joshua Sohn, Gracie Sohn and Robert Foust; five step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cindy (Thomas) Leach of Pinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Michael Capps and Jimmy Capps; a sister, Carolyn Wray; and one brother-in-law, Glen Wray.
