Doris Jean Bingham McKinnon, 83, of Henderson passed away May 3, 2020 at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services were noon Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Dr. Roger Penn and Bro. Tom Spellings officiating. Burial followed in Trinity Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Trinity United Methodist Church.
She was born May 4, 1936 in Chester County, the daughter of the late William Eugene and Ellen Maurine Griffin Bingham. She grew up in the Wilson School Community of Chester County and graduated from Chester County High School in 1954.
She married Roy McKinnon April 28, 1957. They made their home in Henderson all of their 63 years together. She was primarily a homemaker but worked for Sears in Jackson for several years before moving to the Sears store in Henderson, working with her brother Thomas for several years. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching and raising flowers and loved hummingbirds.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and sang in the choir. She loved her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed participating in the Christmas lighting at Chickasaw State Park. She loved traveling and had visited 37 of the 54 State Parks in Tennessee.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Lee McKinnon of Henderson; sons, Joe (Carol) McKinnon of Bolivar and John William (Anna) McKinnon of Savannah; daughters, Patricia (Tom) Rowe of Memphis and Andrea (Mark) Maccarino of Henderson; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way; brothers, Jim (Sue) Bingham of LaGrange, Ga., and Charles (Linda) Bingham of Jackson; and brother-in-law, Phil Arnold of Ashland, Ore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas Bingham (and wife Carolyn); and sister, Polly Arnold.
