DORIS SHEFFIELD WHITTEN Obituary – April 26, 1925 – Nov. 15, 2019

Doris Lucille Sheffield Whitten, 94, of Henderson passed away on Friday, Nov. 15, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Shane Connor officiating.
Burial followed in the Chester County Memory Gardens. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 9-11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18.
She was born on April 26, 1925 in McNairy County, daughter of the late Elijah Boss and Malisa Nola Davidson Sheffield. She attended school at McNairy.
She later married W.O. Whitten. They made their home in McNairy before moving to Henderson. Mr. Whitten worked on the farm and in real estate until his death in 1974. She made her home on Barham Avenue in Henderson until she moved to Heritage Towers in 2010. She enjoyed watching the University of Tennessee, the University of Memphis and Memphis Grizzlies basketball.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Doris Knott and Jeannie Robinson to whom she was very close.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Willie Criss, Duell Criss, Lorine Cheshier, Mary Lee Wooley and Mandy Sheffield; and seven brothers, Amo, Millard, Avon, E.B., H.C., Elmo and Everette Sheffield.
