He was born at Jack’s Creek in Chester County, the son of the late Elbert Christopher Jones, Sr. and Mary Caroline Anderson Jones. Educated in schools there, he graduated from Chester County High School in 1946.
In 1952, he married Joyce Johnson. Mrs. Jones passed away on May 16, 1999.
He retired in 1990 as plant manager at Hardeman Garment in Bolivar after 24 years of service. He also had worked at Tiffin (Ohio) State Psychiatric Hospital and Schultz Manufacturing in Henderson. He was a member of the Bolivar Masonic Lodge #608 and Milledgeville United Methodist Church.
On Nov. 26, 2005, he married Joanne Powell and, together, they enjoyed traveling everywhere from Oregon to New England.
