The American Legion Davidson-Haltom Post 157 and Henderson Boy Scout Troup 25 cohosted a solemn flag retirement at Gene Record Memorial Park on Friday, June 14.
The public was invited to attend the somber ceremony which included the dignified destruction of worn or torn, retired American flags no longer fit for use. This resulted in burning the flag carefully after removing each individual stripe and star.
A Flag Depository Box is available to properly dispose of worn, torn or stained retired flags at the Solid Waste and Recycle Center located at 315 Talley Store Road in Henderson. Tattered, old flags may be deposited in the indicated box any time of the year.
