Rory Travis Jones, Sr., 73, of Finger passed away Friday morning, May 6, 2022 at his home. Funeral services were Monday, May 9, at Old Friendship Baptist Church with Bro. Iran Smith, Travis Jones, Jr. and Marnie Kay Jones Ward officiating. Burial followed in Old Friendship Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Old Friendship Cemetery Fund, 100 Hunter Lane, Finger, TN 38334.
He worked for TJ & L Construction until 1995 and then started R. Jones Underground in October of 1995. They laid underground utility services and cross country large gas pipeline in several states. He served as President of the company until he retired in 2018. His son, Rory Travis Jones, Jr., assumed the presidency and serves as Director of Operations.

He was born in Hastings, Neb., on May 31, 1948, the son of the late Travis Edward Jones and the late Theresa Jean Fearn Jones Langlinais. He grew up in the Old Friendship Community in Chester County and was a 1966 graduate of Chester County High School.
He married Linda Shelton in 1965, and they have made their home in the Old Friendship Community since 1973.

He served as Sunday school teacher and Deacon at Old Friendship Missionary Baptist Church for many years. He also served on the board at Old Friendship Cemetery.
He loved his family and his church and was a dedicated Christian who wanted everybody to come to love the Lord. He was supportive of the church and the community, and was willing to help those in need.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Jones of the home; a son, Rory Travis (Shannon) Jones, Jr. of Jackson; one daughter, Marnie Kay (Brad) Jones Ward of Jackson, Mo.; six grandchildren, Hailey (Rob) Cunningham, Grant Jones Ward, Grayson Cole Ward, Mary Allison Jones, Olivia Layne Ward and Rory Travis Jones, III; five great-grandchildren, Kolby Cunningham, Logan Allen Cunningham, Lynnley Kay Cunningham, Lainey Cunningham and Koleson Cunningham; two brothers, Randall (Patricia) Jones of Finger and Larry (Teresa) Langlinais of Henderson; and three sisters, Sharon Wamble and Diane Jones, both of Finger, and Pamela (Jimmy) Cooper of Henderson.
