FRANCES WOODY Obituary – JUNE 15, 1940 – JAN. 9, 2022

Frances Marlene Plunk Woody, 81, of Pinson passed away Jan. 9, 2022 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Larry Kirk officiating. Burial followed in Henderson City Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from noon-2 p.m. service time Wednesday.
She was born June 15, 1940 in Henderson, the daughter of the late David Arthur and Alma Alene Spencer Plunk. She married Larry Woody in 1957. They lived most of their married life in Henderson, where Mr. Woody was superintendent of the water department for the City of Henderson and she served as the custodian at First Baptist Church for 24 years. She retired in 2002. They made their home in Pinson since 2013. Mr. Woody died Feb. 6, 2020.
She was a member of the Meridian Baptist Church in Jackson.
She loved to garden, grow flowers and enjoyed crafts, sewing and her grandchildren.  
She is survived by a son, Douglas Larry Woody of Pinson; three daughters, Debbie (Garey) Cupples of Pinson, Angie (Joe) Hudson of Jackson and Cindy (Mark) Pica of Jackson; six grandchildren, Robert ‘Bo’ (Julie) Cupples, Rhett (Kristi) Woody, Courtni Woody, Kaleigh (Robert) Clark, Nicholas Pica and Alexandria ‘Lexi’ Pica; and three great-grandchildren, Cooper Cupples, Kenli Collins and Liliana Woody.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two half-sisters, Joy Marsh Wallace and Geraldine Roberts.
