The Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions (11-0) took on Georgia Gwinnett Sunday, February 27, away in Columbus, Georgia in the final game of the NFCA Leadoff Classic. They won the contest, equalling their closest margin of victory this year, being that of 2-0.
This month has been filled with stellar performances, but Sophie Dunavant and Kennedy Harris were the big difference today offensively. Harris was able to score on a Dunavant hit in the third, and fielder’s choice in the fifth. Harris set herself up well by stealing a bag each time she got on base in the contest.
The Lady Lions pitching staff was able to close out their fifth shutout of the month behind the arm of Chloe Winters and her seven strikeouts. The Lady Lions have a trio of pitchers that have and will prove difficult to batters throughout the season. These pitchers being: Brittany Adair, Chloe Winters, and Morgan Crawford.
The Lady Lions had an outstanding weekend in Georgia as they collected wins over Brenau, Indiana Southeast, Taylor, Bryan, and finally Georgia Gwinnett. This completes their perfect month as they were able to win every game they have played thus far. They will be returning home to rest and be ready for their road matchup against Thomas More on March 4 and 5.
