Freed-Hardeman Lions Golf wrap up fall season

The men’s and women’s golf teams wrapped up their fall seasons last week at the Elvis Cup against Blue Mountain Christian University (Miss.).
In her junior season, Bailey Gilbert averaged 81.1 strokes per round. She also had the low round of the season, shooting 76 (+4) at the Riley Moore Collegiate Cup. Sophomore Lily Conkle averaged 85.12 strokes per round and fellow sophomore Riya Key averaged 85.3. Key also tied Gilbert for the low round of the season with a 76 (+4). Senior Camille Blaylock and sophomore Reagan Malone both averaged 85.8. Makenzie Wilson, a freshman, averaged 87 with junior Sara Browning just one stroke behind her with 88.4. Each of these players played in all five tournaments. Sophomore Harper Shelton averaged 99.3 with fellow sophomore Clara Powell averaging 95 strokes per round. Freshman Libby Rominger averaged 109 strokes per round this season.
On the men’s side, Drew Taylor averaged 76.18 strokes. The senior also has the low round of the season with a 69 (-3) at Chickasaw golf course, helping him take the individual title at the FHU fall invitational. Junior Tyler Rhodes averaged 78.27 during the fall season. Rhodes also took home the individual title by shooting 4-under-par for two days at the Williams Baptist University (Mo.) Fall Invitational. Junior EJ Hill averaged 80.6 strokes this season and senior Wes Graham averaged 81.8 strokes per round. Junior Austin Warren and senior Bowman Blocker both averaged 82 strokes per round. Sophomore Ben Shelton was one stroke behind them, averaging 83.6. Freshman Wil Spillers and sophomore Gabe Matherley both averaged 86 this fall, with sophomore Landon Mobley just one stroke behind them with 87.6 strokes per round. Senior Jameson Powell and freshman Bryson Jones averaged 88 and 110 respectively.
Both teams look to work hard during the off season to improve for the spring season. The Lions will tee off again in late February.
