Eli Kibble joins FHU golf

Augmenting his already impressive signing class, golf coach Randall Rhodes has picked up Wilson Central High School’s Eli Kibbe. Kibbe is two-time medalist in 2024, carding a 68 at the Wilson County Championship before shooting a 70 at teh Long Hollow Championship. He has finished in sole possession of second place at the PHENOM Bo Harris Golf Academy Cup and the Macon County Shooting while earning a share of second place at the Blue Grass Invitational. The Wildcat was twice selected to the All-District and All-Region teams in 2023 and 2024, shooting a 73 each year.
“I’m excited to be a Lion, to be competitive, and to grow in everything I do,” said Kibbe. “Whether it be golf or my Christianity.” Coach Rhodes said of his addition, “It’s been exciting to experience Eli’s enthusiasm about being a Freed-Hardeman Lion. He has a passion to grow as a Christian and to grow as a player. His accomplishments in wins, top 5 finishes, and scoring are impressive, and his confidence is infectious. I look forward to all that Eli will accomplish for our team.”

Massengale signs to join men’s golf

Massengale signs to join men’s golf Adding to his growing signing class, head golf coach Randall Rhodes has signed Drew Massengale to be a Lion golfer. Massengale is a three-time regional tournament qualifier representing the Middle Tennessee Christian Cougars. Averaging 72 across his senior senior, he was honored as a Jersey Mike’s Player of the Week while winning second place at the TSSAA’s Division II-A tournament by shooting a 71. Consistently posting scores at or below par, Massengale placed fourth at the 2024 Champions Run Open with a final round of 68 in additional to a fourth-place finish at the PCA Invitational with a 71. In 2023, he was selected as a Daily News Journal All-Area Golfer. In addition to his prowess on the links, Massengale was named to the All-District team for his baseball play in 2024. “Due to my prior knowledge of Freed-Hardeman, the decision to pick FHU as my future home wasn’t very difficult. The environment is unmatched,” said Massengale. “Coach Rhodes, the players, and the rest of the coaching staff showed immense kindness when I visited back in the spring. I am excited to compete at a higher level and continue to strive for the best version of myself on and off the golf course.” Coach Rhodes said of his new player, “Drew has prepared himself to play golf at the next level. He is a talented athlete who has experienced success in multiple sports. He brings a strong work ethic and a desire to compete, that will further help FHU Golf reach its goals. I’m excited to have Drew join our team and look forward to his future accomplishments.”
Massengale is the brother of Freed-Hardeman baseball outfielder Dawson Massengale.

Lady Lion volleyball picks up Hendrix

Coach Amanda Bretherick journeyed to the Missouri bootheel to sign Holcomb RIII High School’s Chloe Hendrix. The 5-8 Hendrix was an all-rounder for the Hornets as an opposite hitter and a defensive specialist. In the history of Holcomb volleyball, Hendrix owns the records for most digs and highest serve/receive percentage. In three years, Hendrix helped HHS to three district titles, tallying 685 kills, 188 service aces, and 1,189 digs. Off the court, Hendrix was honored as a four-time Academic All-State, All-Conference, and All-District player. Hendrix said, “I’m excited to continue my volleyball career, while continuing to build my relationship with Christ.” “Chloe brings a lot of versatility with her game,” said Bretherick. “She is an asset in both the front and back row. We can’t wait to have her here in the fall.”
