Gary “Dub” Parrott, 66, of Henderson passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2019 at McNairy County Healthcare. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Dr. James Huggins and Tom Stanley officiating. The family received friends at East Main beginning at noon until service time on Sunday.
He was born in Jackson on June 3, 1953, the son of the late John Junior and Doris Evelyn Walton Parrott. He grew up in Jackson and was a 1973 graduate of Northside High School.
After high school, he worked for Bemis Cotton Mill for about three years. He then began working for Murray Guard Services in Jackson where he worked for 20 years. He later worked for the Whiteville Correctional Facility until he retired in 2014. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he had a special love for watching professional wrestling.
He is survived by one brother, Michael Anthony “Tony” of Engelsbraund, Germany; four sisters, Evelyn Claudette (Tom) Stanley of Bartlett, Cindy Parrott of Jackson, Cherri Gowdy of Henderson, and Lory (Tim) Barham of Pinson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lisa Lynn Parrott and Johnnie Vantreese.
