Freed-Hardeman University students, parents, alumni and community members will “Make Some Noise” this weekend for Makin’ Music 2024. The 47th annual campus-wide musical extravaganza will take place Friday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 6, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in Loyd Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased at fhu.edu/makinmusic and cost $20 for Friday night, $25 for Saturday’s matinee and $30 for the Saturday night show. This year, special backstage family passes are also available for each performance at $50 per family group (of up to six people).
A beloved annual event for both participants and spectators, Makin’ Music draws thousands of visitors to FHU’s campus. Each show will feature original performances by five social clubs – Chi Beta Chi, Omega Chi, Phi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Rho and Xi Chi Delta – as well as musical selections by student hosts and hostesses and the Makin’ Music Showband; emcees engage the audience throughout the show, also.
“Makin’ Music is a giant, exciting, fun-filled reunion, where the FHU family packs Loyd Auditorium to be wowed by the incredible talents of Freed-Hardeman students!” FHU President David R. Shannon said. “Coordinators, directors and staff spend a year putting this show together, and cast members pour their hearts and energy into entertaining audience members from elementary children to prospective students to grandparents. The quality of this show is unmatched, and we thank God for leaders like Tony Allen, Peggy Weaver and Jarred Clayton who invest their time and talents in helping these students grow and create memories!”
Hostesses for this year’s show are Kaitlyn Moore, a social work and Bible major from Henderson, Tennessee; Emma Kate Garrett, a business analytics major from Decatur, Alabama; and Taylor Roberson, an English education major from Jackson, Tennessee. Jude Bowers, a marketing major from Franklin, Tennessee; Blake Westmoreland, a marketing major from Madison, Alabama; and Elijah Hester, a finance and financial planning major from Florence, Alabama, are 2024 hosts.
Serving as this year’s emcees are Michael Mullinicks, a Bible major from Hohenwald, Tennessee; Julie Gann, a kinesiology major from Huntsville, Alabama; and Zoe Johnson, a marketing and business major from Columbia, Tennessee. Student coordinators are Addie Everson, a public relations major from Mesquite, Texas, and Elle Rhodes, an early childhood education major from New Johnsonville, Tennessee.
On Saturday, the campus will host Party on the Green from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Bader Green in the center of campus. The event will welcome guests with food trucks, inflatable jumpers, a photo booth and a cast member parade at 6:50 p.m.
