Hello to everyone! This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. No matter what life brings us, we always have something to be glad about. It is great to live in a Bible Belt State. I hope and pray that you had a wonderful week. Well 11-11-11 has come and gone – the date we celebrated Veterans Day. Every year, specifically on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month when major hostilities of World War I were formally ended, Americans pay tribute to all veterans – living and deceased – who served their country honorably during war or peacetime. I hope you got to attend the program. The Veterans and the City of Henderson first would like to thank Mayor Bobby King for allowing the Veterans and their families to use the City Hall. I hope it was a great turnout. Each branch of the Armed Forces was recognized by standing, I know, at the ceremony. Thank you, American Legion Post 157 Commander Chris Dunbar. This year was the first time in my life of being a Marine Veterans to not attend any type of ceremony on Veterans Day.
Also, Nov. 10 was the Marine Corps 248th Birthday; to all of my Marine Corps soldiers, Semper Fi (always faithful). We hope you enjoyed your birthday. Thank you for your service!
Now, let me tell why I was not at the Veterans Day Ceremony! On Nov. 11, I was at a wedding, located at one of most beautiful places in Henderson – JL Acres Venue. This wedding was one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever seen, and I could be a little biased because it was our daughter’s wedding! I now have another son! Mr. Joshua Elam and Mrs. Glorina Holiday Elam had a fabulous wedding. Dr. Andre Woody, the coordinator, did an outstanding JOB! They called her the DI-Drill Instructor. Ms. Schvonnat DeMetrice Designs, the decorator, and her crew did an excellent job! If you are having a Party, Banquet, Wedding, Church event, etc., the person to contact is Ms. DeMetrice. The cake was beautiful, and the food was excellent as well. The City of Henderson says congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Elam! We pray that the Lord will bless you with many years together and like I always say, “Keep the honey in the moon!”
To all MEDICARE card holders, the 2023-24 Medicare Open Enrollment Period is coming to a close. Dec. 7, 2023 is the last day to make any changes for a Jan. 1, 2024 effective date. For more information, go to medicare.gov.
On the prayer list this week: anyone that you know who needs prayer. Remember to pray for our United States of America and most of all for our teachers, families and the men and women serving our country.
Do not forget to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can.
If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements or things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Text me at 608-6132 or leave your message.
Thought for today: God pays attention to every detail in our lives. He numbers the hairs on our heads. He knows the cares in our hearts.
