Hello to everyone! As always it is good to be here with you another week on a new month and new day. I count it a blessing. For this is the day our Lord and Savior has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!
To our teachers and children, I hope your first week of school was great and the rest of the year will be a blessed one. The City of Henderson appreciates all of the staff within our educational structure who have helped our school to be so successful. Let us keep our children in prayer for protection, safety, obedience, aptitude enhancement, cohesiveness of relationships between student to student, student to teacher, teacher to teacher and teacher to administrators, the increase of attendances by students and all workers within the educational structure. Remember the prayer does not stop there; we must continue to pray every day and thank the Lord for a great year.
The city would like to say happy 47 years of marriage to Jerry and Shirley Wilson! The traditional 47th wedding anniversary gemstone is amethyst. Mr. Jerry, I know you knew when you married Ms. Shirley 47 years ago you that married a precious jewel! So happy wedding anniversary to Mr. Jerry Wilson and Mrs. Shirley (Prather) Wilson; they will celebrate on Aug. 8. Jerry and Shirley, congratulations! As I always say, remember to keep the honey in the moon! It just gets sweeter and sweeter as the years go by! We LOVE you.
The city would like to wish Mr. Larry Kelly a happy birthday on 8/11. Happy birthday to my nephew Mr. Cliff Brown on 8/18, and my great-nephew Mr. Justin Barham turns 13 years old on 8/12. Ms. Phyllis Massengill celebrates on 8/13, and Ms. Tapeka Wilson celebrates her birthday on 8/19. May the Lord bless you with many more to come.
Last thought for today – please wear your mask to protect you from me, and I will wear my mask to protect me from you. That way we both are covered and safe. Please be smart and do the correct thing because too many people are dying from this disease!
Aug. 4 is voting day. If you did not do early voting, please go vote on the fourth of August.
On the prayer list this week: our United States of America! We need your prayers and the help from the Lord!
Before I leave, I just want to share this with you. This weekend, my husband and I were shopping for a sofa sleeper; you know they are very hard to find. However, we stopped by Ashley’s Furniture store. We met a young man there. He was tall and handsome, but most of all, he was very polite. He also was very helpful. He gave me a card with his name on it, but I can not locate it. I do believe his name was Justin, and he was from Henderson. Thank you, Justin. What would this world be like if there were more people like you?
Remember to patronize with our local businesses here in town; let us try to support our own as much as we can. If you live in the City of Henderson and have news about your family, birthday, anniversary, announcements and things happening in the City, I need to hear from you. Call me at 608-6132 and leave your message, or you may email me at gloria_holiday@msn.com.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!
