Hello to everyone! For this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad! I am so delighted to be with you one more time. It is only by the grace of God that we are here. With all of the heartbreaking news, tragedies, killing, wildfires, snow, rain and politics, just to name a few things surrounding us, my heart goes out to the families affected the most. As we celebrate and prepare for the holidays, remember those that are less fortunate and keep them in our prayers.
The Christmas parade on last Thursday, Dec. 1, was very good! The Christmas Tree lighting before the parade on the courthouse lawn, and the singing was very good as well. I had several to come and say how much they enjoyed it and their children loved it when the Christmas tree lights came on! Their child/children love taking pictures with Santa. To the Henderson/Chester County Chamber of Commerce, the City of Henderson/Chester County just wants to let you know how much we appreciate you and to say THANK YOU for all of your hard work you have done for the County!
Our condolences go out the Barnes family. Mr. George Henry Barnes, Sr. was 104 years old when the Lord called him home. What an amazing person and what a remarkable life. We feel so blessed that he was part of our life. Mr. Barnes was born in the middle of World War 1 or the First World War, a global conflict which lasted from 1914 to 1918 and is considered one of the deadliest conflicts in history. Mr. Barnes had six children, 24 grandchildren 53 great-grand-children and 20 great-great-grand-children. One of his granddaughters is employed with Southwest HRA, Mrs. Kristyl Hansen. To the family of Mr. Barnes, our prayers are with you and we love you!
Now for a little history: Do you remember what happened on Dec. 7, 1941 from your history books in school? If not, I am going to remind you. Eight-one years ago, there was an attack on Pearl Harbor! Let us not forget those who died on that day! National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, which is observed annually in the United States on Dec. 7, is to remember and honor the 2,403 victims who were killed in the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. On Aug. 23, 1994, United States Congress, by Pub.L. 103–308, designated Dec. 7 of each year as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is also referred to as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day or Pearl Harbor Day. It is a tradition to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff until sunset in honor of dead patriots. Let us not forget!
