For the first time in facility history, Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center took six athletes to compete in the Tennessee Senior Olympics held at the Jackson Fairgrounds on Wednesday, October 9. There were 16 facilities who brought residents to compete. Each game has specific competition rules such as how many throws each individual gets, where they have to stand, and so forth. Henderson Health and Rehab’s residents had been practicing weekly for almost three months.
There are eight games for seniors to compete in: Photography, Art, Dancing, Wheelchair Race, Football Throw, Bean Bag Toss, Darts and Horseshoes. Henderson Health and Rehab had three residents win medals in four events. John Logan won first place in Art with his painting. Aubrey Patrick won first place in Bean Bag Toss and second in the Wheelchair Race. Juanita Hall won second place in the dance contest.
This was Henderson Health and Rehab’s first year to compete in the Senior Olympics.
