For the past decade, the central courtyard at the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center (located at 412 Juanita Drive) has been without a water fountain. Now ten years later, after falling dry to disrepair, the water fountain is now flowing again with life. “We wanted to bring back a piece of history and create a calming environment for our residents,” said Facility Administrator Eric Jones. “The fountain holds a special place in the hearts of many here, and its revival has been a long time coming.”
The restoration of the fountain was done by staff to demonstrate their commitment to the residents of the facility. This collaborative effort highlights the strong sense of community and care that the Henderson Health and Rehabilitation team strive to be daily. It is a testament to the dedication and care that the staff and community have for the residents of Henderson Health and Rehabilitation. For the residents, staff and visitors, the restored water fountain is more than just a feature, it’s a cherished part of their daily lives. As the water fountain flows once more, it brings the symbol of hope for the future. The courtyard, which once fell silent, now may hear the soothing sounds of the fountain once again. Proving that restoration and renewal are always possible. While first there is hope, second there is restoration, third renewal then lastly there is joy, once all is complete. The fountain was named the “Fountain of Joy.” The fountain was dedicated to Cathy Ferguson, a faculty member of 25 years. She not only helped (and contributed her own money) to the maintenance of setting up this fountain and bronzed the fountain herself. The Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center staff had celebrated the renewal of their fountain (in the courtyard after ten years) on Tuesday, November 26. Facility Administrator Eric Jones named the fountain the “Fountain of Joy” and dedicated in honor of Cathy Ferguson, who is a faculty member of 25 years.
