On Saturday November 26, Henderson Police Department, in cooperation with the Chester County Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee Highway Patrol, arrested two individuals that were being pursued in Benton County, Decatur County, Henderson County and Chester County.
HPD’s report on the pursuit is as follows:
“On Saturday, November 26, local law enforcement received a call from Henderson County deputies of a stolen vehicle heading west down Highway 100. The vehicle was told to have two suspects that allegedly committed armed robbery in Paris, Tennessee, earlier that day. The vehicle was later confirmed stolen, and the suspects were to be considered armed.
“Pursuit occurred in Benton County by Benton County Sheriff’s Department and two different times in Decatur County by the Decatur County Sheriff’s Department. During one of the Decatur County pursuits the stolen vehicle rammed a Decatur County Sheriff’s Department vehicle.
“Once the vehicle entered Chester County, a Chester County firefighter heard the BOLO call and observed the vehicle heading toward Henderson and reported it, which gave time for the Henderson Police Department and the Chester County Sheriff’s Department to set up on the east city limits. HPD and the Chester Co. Sheriff’s Department made contact with the vehicle at the east city limits and a brief pursuit occurred.
“The stolen vehicle left the roadway on State Route 100 near the lagoons and two occupants fled by foot. The female was quickly apprehended. The male suspect fled into the woods behind the south lagoon, and law enforcement quickly set up a perimeter. Approximately after four hours of searching the woods and swamp area, the male suspect was taken into custody with no incidents.
“No weapons were recovered. Over 20 grams of methamphetamine were recovered from the vehicle.
“HPD Chief Gary Davidson stated that he wanted to commend the action of HPD officers, the Chester Co. Sheriff’s Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers for their hard work and dedication that led to the successful apprehension of the fleeing suspects.”
