Greetings from Hickory Corner!
I apologize for not writing anything the last several weeks. I do want to mention that the Homecoming celebration held Saturday, July 29, at the Hickory Corner Community Center was a fun day with a good turnout. I went home with three cakes from the cake walk. I gave one away, put one in the freezer and ate one. They came in handy, as I have had quite a bit of company the last few weeks. Thank you to all those who played a part in making the day a success. I was very surprised when I was called up on stage and was honored with a plaque for “years of tireless dedication and selfless contributions of time, effort and support to the community center.” Thank you for that. I have had many years of fun and fellowship at the center and have always enjoyed helping out.
The community sends sympathy to the family of Lynn Connor. Lynn was a great guy who was married to my sweet niece Dianne. He loved his family very much. Lynn came and picked me up last Christmas and took me to their house for dinner so I was not alone on Christmas day. He will be missed by both family and friends.
Also, sympathy to the family of Jerry Hailey. Jerry was my nephew and the son of the late JD and Veda Patterson Hailey and grandson of the late Oberd and Estelle Patterson of Hickory Corner. Jerry will be missed by his family and friends. He was always fun to be around and loved all his family including aunts, uncles and cousins so very much.
My daughter Cindy and her husband Tim and my son Terry and his wife Jo were here last week. We had a good visit and got lots done around here. My son Greg is here this week. Also, my sister Darlene Reese and her husband Mike from Arkansas came and stayed a few days. I was happy to see all of them.
Hearts and a big thank you to JoAnn Clayton who knew I was having company and sent over a cake. How thoughtful and it sure was good.
Please remember in prayer Ladelle Clark, Mildred Smith, Martha Autry, Bonice Martin, Peggy Lard, Donna Lynch and Lonnie Morton. Continue to pray for each other, our country and our world. If you would like to add or remove a name from our prayer list, please call me. I do not like to add/remove a name without permission.
If you would like to rent the HCC Center for a special event, please call Nancy Patterson at 608-1159.
I need to hear from you! Please call me with tidbits and news at 989-3315. You can share vacations, birthdays, anniversaries, memories and much more. I look forward to hearing from you. Make it a great week!
