The Henderson Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting Sunday at a residence on Morningview Cove, in Henderson. According to a release, the incident left one person dead in what is believed to be a self-inflicted shooting.
The HPD reported that officers responded to Morningview Cove early Sunday morning, March 24, for a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers found a female inside a vehicle in the driveway suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately began assisting with life saving measures and securing the scene. The female was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Henderson Chief of Police Gary A. Davidson said, “Our preliminary investigation leads us to believe the gunshot was self-inflicted. This is still an active and ongoing investigation.”
“We are not releasing the name of the deceased female at this time to allow the family the time they need to grieve in privacy and make any necessary arrangements,” Chief Davidson added.
HPD Assistant Chief Tim Crowe said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
