The Chester County Junior Eagles once again shut out their opponent 38-6 when they defeated Hardin County on Thursday, August 26.
The game started with some fire as Jaden Weaver received the ball on the opening kickoff and took it straight to the house for a 67-yard kick return.
The Eagles were able to get the 2-point conversion, so the Eagles took the lead 8-0 with just seconds off the clock.
The Tigers were not hesitant about getting on the scoreboard either though.
After a hand full of runs, the Tigers responded with a touchdown run.
However they did not get the conversion.
“I don’t think our kids expected a guy that big to run it like he was,” CCJHS Football Head Coach Chad Hanna said.
That gave them excitement, but they also did not expect that to be their only time crossing the goal line the entire night.
The Eagles defense did what they needed to do to keep from the runningback from scoring again.
“We started reading it better. Our line was doing a better job of getting horizontal, side-to-side and working on getting some shots slowing him down for our linebackers,” Hanna said.
The Tigers attempted to throw it over the Eagles’ heads’ but after a failed connection between the receiver and quarterback, they changed their passing game plan to short screens which proved to be effective… That is for a little while.
Eventually, Weaver read the Tigers’ offense and put himself in position to get a 91-yard pick 6 for the last Eagle touchdown of the evening.
“We just preach defense, defense, defense,” Hanna said.
The CCJHS Eagles will be facing off against Decatur Co. at the Panthers’ field on this evening, Sept 2, for their next game.
