JERELENE MCNEIL Obituary – April 14, 1937 – Feb. 20, 2022

Lessie Jerelene Smith McNeil, 84, of Henderson passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Cave Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Geary and Bro. Johnny Bullman officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel.
She was born April 14, 1937, in the Phillips Community in Chester County, the daughter of the late Cleatus Banford and Mary Lou Bullman Smith.
She was raised and attended schools in the Phillips Community and in Chester County High School. She made her home in the Montezuma Community and was a member of the Cave Springs Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she worked on the family farm, Salant & Salant, for 22 years and Neo Products where she retired after 32 years in 2011. She loved gardening, working in her flower beds, cooking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two children, Kathy McNeil Geary and Teresa (Charlie) McNeil Wyatt both of Henderson; six grandchildren, Caleb Geary, Kelsey (Joshua) Brasfield, Kyle (Cameron) Geary, Caitlin Geary, Ray Bishop and Megan Bishop; and five great-grandchildren, McKenna Geary, Lincoln Geary, Ryan Brasfield, Channen Tilley and Eleanore Wyatt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Garry Wayne McNeil in 1977; two brothers, Harold Wayne Smith and C.B. Smith; and four sisters, Mary Jo Smith Howell, Maurine Smith Ward, Betty Smith Weaver and Marie Smith.
