Joe Harold Ayers, 68, of Jacks Creek passed away at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – East Main Chapel with Bro. Brent Daniel officiating. Burial followed in Enville Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at East Main Chapel from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Sunday service time.
He was born Nov. 6, 1952 in Wayne County and grew up in Henderson, the son of the late Jess and Lois Wright Ayers. He attended schools at Bethel Springs and Finger. He married Pam Pusser on Feb. 9, 1970. They made their home in Chester County. He was a self-employed heating and air technician operating his own business, Ayers Heating & Air.  He enjoyed his work.
He was a member of the Jacks Creek Apostolic Church.     
He loved to watch westerns on television, particularly John Wayne movies.  
He is survived by a daughter, Tonya (Don) Taylor of Jacks Creek; one son, Chris Ayers of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Shana Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Shianna Taylor, Amber Taylor and Richard Taylor; three sisters, Nancy Jenkins of Collinwood, Judy Burns and Connie Bailey of Lexington; and a brother, Billy Joe Ayers of Pinson.     
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pam Pusser Ayers; four sisters, Nadine Ayers, Ann Ayers, Shelby Smith and Virginia Gail Ayers; and two brothers, Glenn Ayers and Billy Wayne Ayers.
