JOE FOWLER Obituary – Sept. 1, 1934 – Jan. 27, 2022

Joe Calvin Fowler, 87, of Lexington passed away Jan. 27, 2022 after a brief stay at the Lexington Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Brother Bobby Beecham officiating.
Burial followed in Johnson Crossroads Cemetery.
The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday and beginning at noon on Sunday until service time 2 p.m. Sunday.
He was born Sept. 1, 1934 in Mifflin in Henderson County and reared in Chester County, the son of the late Virgil Dennis and Arro Bell Holmes Fowler. He attended school in Henderson and Chester County. He married Jettie Mae Tucker from Henderson County in 1963 and resided in Memphis until 1966 when they moved to the Chutney Store Community in Jacks Creek. Mrs. Fowler died in 1996.
He served in the TN National Guard from 1953 until 1956. He moved to Memphis and managed a service station in the 60s. Upon returning home, he operated the store in the Sweetlips Community until he started his career harvesting timber from the trunk to the mill. He retired in 1998. Many of his retired years were spent on the bench at Walmart in Lexington.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Fowler of Lexington and Beverley (Larry) Fowler Greenway of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Joy Nell Fowler Edwards.
