John Michael Butler, 57, of Henderson passed away May 29, 2022 at his home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 2, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Bro. Joe Ross officiating.
Burial will follow in New Friendship Cemetery. The family received friends at Crook Avenue from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic services were 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crook Avenue.
He was born Dec. 27, 1964 in Oak Park, Ill., the son of John Thompsy and Harrilyn Jeanette Garner Butler. He grew up in the Mifflin Community of Chester County and was a 1983 graduate of Chester County High School.
He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church. He was a Freemason.
He worked for Owens Corning in Jackson for 26 years, retiring in 2018 due to health concerns.
He was also a big farmer, raising mostly cattle, horses, pigs and ducks. He was a hardworking man. He loved his western movies and television shows. He married Janet Bingham on Feb. 2, 2015. They made their home in Henderson.
He loved his family especially his grandchildren and teaching them to work with his farm animals. He enjoyed collecting guns and coins.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Bingham Butler of Henderson; five sons, Dexter (Sara) Butler Dandridge, Hunter (Hope) Butler of Henderson, Logan (Kierstin) Butler of Henderson, Clint Cox of Henderson and Kent Cox of Tennessee Ridge; a daughter, Ginger (Ivan) Arroyo of Henderson; his parents, John and Jeanette Butler of Henderson; 14 grandchildren; one brother, Rodney (Tanya) Butler of Henderson; and two sisters, Beverly Butler of Henderson and Stephanie (Darren) Hatch of Henderson.
