Johnny Ray Maness, 72, of Finger passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at his home at Finger. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson, Crook Avenue Chapel with James Sanders officiating. Burial followed at Cave Springs Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home beginning at noon Wednesday.
He was born in Chester County, Sept. 25, 1950, the son of the late Jess Willard and Eula Virginia Crouse Maness. He grew up in the Finger area and attended schools at Hickory Corner and Old Friendship. He entered the US Army in 1970 and served four years, two of those active service, stationed in Germany.
He married Nancy Baker in 1974, and they had two children, Shane and Brandy. He later married Robin Hurst in 1991, and they also had two children, Josh and Jordan.
He worked at Oakley Fashions in Jackson; Grinnell in Henderson; and Quality Stamping in Henderson, where he retired as a press operator in 2018
He enjoyed hunting , working outside, collecting antiques and old cars. He was also a NASCAR fan.
He is survived by a daughter, Jordan (Asa) Sanders of Henderson; two sons, Johnny Shane (Jamie) Maness of Elkhart, Ind., and Joshua Ray Maness of Finger; five brothers David Maness of Jackson, Raywood (Jean) Maness of Counce, Harell (Terri) Maness of Finger, Robert Maness of Wichita, Kan., and Danny (Loretta) Maness of Finger; three sisters Shirley (Bob) Swallow of Glenn, Miss., Susie (Danny) Smith of Finger and Betty (Dennis) Graves of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Madison, Montanna, Damon, Hunter, Ella, Bryan and Michael; and five great-grandchildren, Krimson, Ray, Lulu, Ava and Asher.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Brandy Lipford; two brothers, Bill Maness and Larry Maness; and one sister, Inetha Robison.
